I'm trying to get my valve cover off so i can paint it. I've removed the 5 ot 6 bolts along the outside, and the 5 on the inside near the sparkplugs; ive also removed the timing belt cover. I've tried lifting the valve cover off, but it seems to be stuck on there really well. I also tried tapping it with a rubber mallet, and no such luck. Any ideas on how to get this thing off?

if i remember there is bolt under the belt cover. With all the bolt gone it will come off easily if you pull on it. Dont forget to unplug the pc valve.

There is one tricky bolt that's easy to miss as referred to earlier. Also as stated, if you're positive you got all the bolts out, just go around the edge lightly with a putty knife or equivalent and just gently break the gasket seal. Should come off easily.

might be a good time to change the valve cover gasket, While you have it off.

Well, igot it off by using a big arsed screw driver and a hammer do get it in between the head and the cover. Its been scrubbed and scrubbed and is starting to look pretty clean. I'm gonna soak it in simple green overnight and check it in the morning.

Yea, im replacing the gasket and the sparkplugs gaskets as well.

When your done it might look like one of these... If you have the time to put a little elbow grease into polishing or painting?? I have a "HOW TO" paint a valve cover for the red cover saved in a PM if you're interested??
