i had a double din stock cd player in my car. i replaced it with a clarion cd player and they left the stock cd player below my new clarion makin it look like crap.:barf: so i need a designor an idea of what to put there, can someone help me with that?????? i thought about putting clear plexiglass in there and trying to mek it clean in there with a neon light behind it, i mean just an idea. someone help me with it. if you have pics show me please.:dsm:

They didn't install a kit when they put your new cd player in? When I mean kit I mean that black plastic that surrounds your cd player and puts it right in the middle.hmm..

Well you have two options,
1) you can but a kit, either from best buy or some local shop and just put it where you player is.

2) you can take your idea and create some sort of clear or other color surface and jsut stick it in there.

I prefer the second one. Takes more time but its very unique.IMO

Good luck:thumb:

it cost a about $5 but i took a piece of plexiglass and cut it out, cut a hole and put a temp gauge in their, but before i used black plastic spray paint, and sprayed it from the back side, about 20min of work and still have more plexiglass if i want to add more,

yea nate i wish, im just blessed so heavenly with school  so i have no money rolling in, not trying to be an a$$, its rough trying to save money when you are still a junior in high school. yea i think ill do the plexiglass peicei might get a small designer sticker put it on the back paint it black then pull the sticker off and hopefully it will read through and ill put a neon in the back. sticker can read mitsubishi or eclipse or spyder, how does that sound?
:dsm:

I like the way the sounds. Make sure you take your time. I have a black plate under my HU with some switches. Looks nice but I hate painting things. I always manage to mess it up some how.

yea i manage to mess my painting up too. i just hope someone can do a reverse sticky thing so i can paint it from the back. so ppl dont try to peel the paint off. i got my neon tag light today its nice and bright! i like it alot:dsm: :D

hey i took my old cd player out cut the plexiglass and added the sticker, ill paint it and all later, it looks nice right now, i think its pretty cool!

Okay, this is probably common knowledge, but where have you guys found your DIN radio pockets? You know, the things that replace one of the radio slots when you have a new head unit installed?

I just had a CD player installed at Circuit City, and the guy there told me maybe the dealer would have them, but I'm sure if I get one from the dealership it will cost me.

I know there are "universal" ones, but the CC guy that did the install said he went through every single one they have to see if any would fit, and he came up with nothing. He even offered to make one for me from some spare plastic (free of charge) but I decided to see where everyone else got theirs...

I'd almost bet the $10 these kits cost that they'd fit right into a 1G as well. There's not that much difference in the cars, and they're DIN, so the size should be right. And if nothing else, they're plastic, so they'd be fairly easy to work into the right mounts if it was needed. It's hard to wedge more than three or four extra clips in there next to the pistol anyway, so they won't be carrying that much weight.... Just thinking.

i used the universal kit on mine, worked fine. you just have to play around with it a bit. i talked to an installer at best buy. he said thats what he does for all the dsms that come in. he said there is a kit made for them by some smallitime company, but the universal job actualy looks more oem in the end.

ok so i'm looking at buying an alpine deck and i want to install it myself (got a good deal)

I don't think it has the infinity system, but it does have the cd player and tape deck in the console (two separate units)

so what do i need to do this and where can i get the parts?

Car audio shops sell an install kit for situations like these. It's just a piece of plastic that acts as a frame, and covers one of the slots. Probably like 10 dollars. EASY to do, took me about 5 minutes.

If you have the 2 separate components in the dash then you don't have the Infinity system, just the regular Mitsu one. Same thing mine came with, cassette deck with add on cd player. Both sitting in my garage now along with my last CD deck and a bunch of speakers I've used over the past year and a half, haha..
