I finaly got a little cash and it's down to the wire. I always put off the decesion but now is the time...In everyones honest opinion, no mater how many times this topic has come up before, what turbo am I gonna get the most power and reliability out of. I feel it's a Big 16g and i'm catching flak for being too modest. One more time, can I hear everyones ideas on this please.

Honestly I think it all depends on your definition of "streetable." Reliability will play into the care of not only your turbo, but your engine and other components. A T25 can be reliable if your content with stock boost, but a 20G is also at the same time wasted running outside the effiency maps. Then there is to consider supporting mods. . . . blah blah blah. Need to update profile (I know I need to as well :D)

I think it is only the size of the compressor wheel...I'm not sure about the housing but I know the wheel is bigger and it flows more air...therefore it can produce more hp.

Yup, Big 16G is right in between regular 16G and 20G. Hey, you're from San Luis Obispo! I used to live there, too. I always felt odd getting on a bus that said,"SLO Transit" on the side!

I would agree that something like a 20G would be good for a FWD and something like Big16G or a BB turbo for an AWD.

Below are some flow rate comparisons that I took from someone's post on this forum and other places before......

Mitsubishi:
16g = 34lb/min
Big 16g = 36lb/min
20g = 44lb/min

Forced Performance:
Big28 = 36lb/min

AGP:
L1 = 41lb/min (400BHP) T04B comp housing
L1R = 42lb/min (no data available)
L2 = 49lb/min 50 trim (520BHP) choice T04B / T04E
L2R = 54lb/min (550BHP) choice T04B / T04E
L3 = 60lb/min 60-1 (610BHP) T04E comp housing
L3R = 62(65)lb/min (630BHP) T04E comp housing

Extreme Turbo:
ETA12 = 36lb/min S-trim (360WHP) ETA comp housing
ETA32 = 48lb/min 50 trim (440WHP) ETA comp housing
ETE32 = 48lb/min 50 trim (460WHP) T04E comp housing
ETE42 = 50lb/min 60 trim (500WHP) TO4E comp housing
ETE52 = 55lb/min 60-1 (550WHP) TO4E comp housing

GT30 (ball bearing) turbos:

48 trim = 44lbs/min
52 trim = 50lbs/min
56 trim = 55lbs/min
60 trim = 60lbs/min
gt35 trim = 65lbs/min

Garrett:
T-28 = 34lb/min (350BHP)
50 trim = 47lb/min (GREEN)
57 trim = 49lb/min 60-1 = 65lb/min (RED)

The following is from Turbonetics Catalog:

On TO4E Compressor housings:
50-trim = 47lbs/min
54-trim = 45lbs/min
57-trim = 49lbs/min
60-trim = 50lbs/min
T-100 = 180lbs/min

TO4B compressor housing:
60-1 = 65lbs/min
62-1 = 70lbs/min

I thank you guys for the quick replies...lets see if I can aswer all your questions..
I have a '95 Tsi AWD...i keep updating my profile...but that's a seperate issue...you can check that out if you got a quick second.

My budget i'm working with is 300 out of pocket, and whatever i get for the bodykit for my old go-cart (95 GS-R Integra). The buyer i got now says 400, so i'm going off of that. I know it's gonna take a ton more for everything but i have a great habbit of piecing everthing together, then slaming them into the car all at once. The reason why I am stickin witht the Mitsu style turbo's is because they are fairly common and a breeze to get my hands on one (relativley) I checked up on the AGP turbo's and they are great, but too much for me....for now atleast. If money wasn't an option...i'd do something pshycotic like a gt30-40 Ball Bearing.

I was looking for reason to not get a 20g, but i might be convinced otherwise. Everyone pretty much agrees on an AWD using a 16g (Big or stand.), but i forgot to mention I have an auto.....no turbo lag between shifts. Am I on the right train of thought or not??

Piecing it togetther....Fuel and everytihng else is still gonna be a problem too.

Oh I forgot. I know my pricerange seems lacking, that's why I am Junkyard shopping.

If your auto I'ld recommend something like the small 16G or even more leaning to the T28 series. I know someone with a Big16G in an auto and it could not launch from stop if it's life depended on it. I'm not sure y to this date but it would take forever to spool. He did have all the supporting mods (fuel, exhaust, injectors, AFC, blah blah blah). This is just a personal account and not saying that it's impossible. But if I had to do a 2G auto AWD I'ld go with the T28 Killer from tchargers. Read up on stangtt post. He's auto as well.

I like the sound of this T-28 Killer....But read this thread, I know it's long, but I swear it's usefull.

Now.......keeping this in mind, I gather with this semi cheap mod, I can get a slightly better spool-up between 300-700(no accurate numbers have been accounted for of course) If i can get a big 16g I might be able to get that baby to spin. I realize that the flows of the Big16g and the T-28 Killer are equal(am i right by saying this?)...witht that said, i am looking for used or stolen.......chances of finding a used T-28 Killer is apperently slim, But i'm open to objections.

im a garrett turbo fan.... i hear so many good things about the hybrid turbo's, plus i have one myself, its great, the design is flawless, but if you ever get the chance to get a KKK turbo from a turbo porsche thats the best you could ever get, external waistgate, and just wonderful turbos!!! west way to get one is off from a late 80's porsche 944 turbo

well.......this thread just went south. Thanks for all the REAL help. I'll keep everyone posted.

the best street turbo is a fp green model .. period ... is spools fast as hell for a turbo with a 50 trim and it has a frank 7 exaust side so its the s**t..... i have mine at 18lbs right now and im making about 360hp at the wheels with out the base timing tuned.... tuned off an afc also.... so mop ass on the street with only 18lbs then put some c16 in and turn it up to 30lbs and run 100 mph passes in the 1/8 th you cant beat this turbo ...... but it cost about 1500 bucks for everything turbo and lines so ....
