I'm sure this will get eventually moved to the Hangout, but I wanted make sure my 420a bros see it also.

Well I just got back from getting a ride home. Me and couple friends were out of town at a "gentlemen's club" and on the way back, about 20 min from home, a deer ran in front of my car. It was all in slow motion. I saw the deer right as I was hitting it and saw it fly basically over my car and land in the ditch in the other side of the road. Hood is FUBAR, bumper basically exploded into 10 pieces, intercooler is probably messed up, radiator is messed up, front radiator support is bent inwards, and headlight is gone. Pictures I'm sure will be posted sometime soon, don't care about uploading, resizing, etc tonight. I'm sure it will be about 1-2 grand to fix and will probably get totalled it out because the car is only worth about 3000-3400. Only had liability on it also so won't get anything for it. So to sum it all up, this night sucks. All the work, sweat, blood, etc in the car is now a memory instead of a current affair. Well that is my story.

man that sucks. just buy used parts off people here or 2gnt and have that sucker back on the road in 1 piece for about 700 bucks.

tax return is right around the corner :thumb:

That sucks. But if the damage is less than what it's worth they shouldn't total it.
Also, I don't know if this is everywhere, but here if you hit a deer I'm pretty sure it's a no fault accident and insurance will cover it even if the vehicle only has liability insurance. You might want to check on that. Good luck and get 'er fixed.

Well if the damage gets up to 70% of the car's value, that's when it is considered totalled.

I'll have to check into the liability insurance part, but I don't think it's the same here.

If you only have liability, insurance could give a shit. They only total out a car when they're responsible for paying to repair it. You may have done a lot of damage, but the only way I can see your car going anywhere is if you have it hauled away.

Don't let them send an adjuster out yet, though. If they inspect the car and call it totalled and you end up repairing it, they will f*ck you over on insuring it again. Additionally, you might get stuck with a salvage- or exceeds mechanical limits title, which stands to make it very hard to sell or trade in later on.

Call your agent, tell him you hit a deer and that you doubt you've got the right coverage, but that you wanted to be sure you were going to have to fix the car out of pocket. Be very matter-of-fact about it, as if it's no big deal at all. He'll tell you, "Sorry, but you're on your own on this one."

Then you fix the car. You sell your performance stuff to pay for repairs if you have to, but you end up with a car that looks good again. At this point, you should still have a clear title and you can sell or trade in the car and start over.

You DONT want this thing totalled, because then you'll be losing any chance to do anything other than completely part it out. Be careful who you talk to and what you tell them about this incident. If anyone reports totalled to the government or Carfax, you're stuck with a boat anchor!

EDIT:
Go over the broken stuff and make a detailed list of what you need. Then post it up in the BST forum on 2GNT, detailing your situation. We're all a tight group, so I bet you might even be able to set up payments or get cheap repair parts you need over there. You're in a bad way right now, but remember that you're a part of something bigger and tap into your resources a bit. NEVER GIVE UP.

You can find and get headlights, hood, fenders, bumper, and radiator for less then $1000. I honestly wouldn't give up on the car over this.

As a matter of fact, my rad. support was bent when I bought the car. I cut it out and welded a new one in there. Cost less then $130-$150.

how mnay miles on that motor, cause if its a 99, it should be worth a lot more I would think.

Because my car according to nada.com is worth 4500-5300 (avg.-high retail)...and thats with no other options selected, and 145k on the oddometer.

I've got a rebuilt motor, and lots of extras so it could be worth more depending on who your selling or trading it to.

Good luck on your situation....but I still think your car is worth more unless you already had a something marked on your title.

I was with him when it happened. I had never been a part of a deer/car collision, but damn; happens faster than I imagined it would.

I'm trying to convince him to find out how much it would cost just to get the frame pulled. The rest of the parts needed could be done by him fairly easy.

Here is a quick pic of the damage..

get it on a frame rack and see if its worth repairing. to *me* it doesnt appear irreparable, but eye-of-the-beholder, i suppose.

If you get another, you now have the experience to turbo it with less troubles that the first time, with less headache.

Hope it works out.

Well the car is sitting at a tow yard, so if I am going to move it, it had better stay at the place it's going because towing isn't cheap either. I don't want to keep moving the car from place to place because that is just going to add to the money that I will have to spend.

I'm thinking about taking it to my cousin's place and keeping it there for a while until I can take whatever I would want off of it, part it out, and then take the body to a junkyard.

I must say that was one fat butt deer that sat on your hood. Did you even look at the frame or radiator support.? Usually a collision with a deer is unlikely to do any frame damage because the majority of their weight is up high and most the force is released downward on the hood windshield ect during impact. Good chance the radiator support is bent though.

Just curious how this is going totaleclipse05 let us know.

Yeah I looked. Radiator support is definitely bent. I didn't think frame was bent, I guess I forgot to post that in this thread. Right now I'm waiting for my dad to come back from a business trip in Las Vegas and then I wanna check out this GSX for sale in the area. I'll keep everyone updated with what I find out. I have just been playing the waiting game since this happened and it really sucks. I want next week to come already.

OK and update finally:

Was going to look at a GSX in the area for sale, but it was sold when I called. Going to be checking out a 96 Eagle Talon NT close by so I may just be stickin around for a while longer LOL. Will keep you guys updated on what happens.

UPDATE:

Alright guys, I got a new car tonight. 1996 Eagle Talon with 135,000 miles on her. Overall runs good and looks pretty good, just few small things need to be addressed. I only have 1 pic from my cell phone right now, but I will take more tomorrow along with transfer some of my old stuff from my eclipse to the talon. I am pretty excited as I always wanted a white 2g car and now I have one. I'll update more tomorrow, enjoy!

really nice..before you get everything on there you might want to drive it around as is for a week or so and handle some maintainence stuff that can be delt with alot easier without the turbo stuff on there....just my 02.

Looks real nice.....I like white 2g's.....:thumb:

Yeah it's gonna be a while before the turbo goes on as I need a new FMIC anyways and a return line kit for the turbo. I'm just gonna be swapping over stuff like short shifter, shift kit, cd player, etc. Just little stuff that I was used to in my car.

BTW, car was towed to my house today and I started stripping it. I need a jack before I start tackling ALL the turbo stuff.

Not sure what type of fogs they are, I took them off anyways haha. Switched my radio, short shifter, shift kit, plugs, wires, pcv valve, and just various broken or missing panels from my old car to my new car this morning.

Here are some pics of her.
