I went from a s16g to a evo 3 --stock exhasut manifold to a SBR ported manifold with a 38 mm tial wastegate. Aeromotive FPR new knock sensor and 02 sensor -thermostate. I started the car and set the FP to 43-44 right away then put the vac line on. (Should the car fully warm up withe the vac line off). Car ran great sounded like it wanted to die a few times (could be that I just blocked off the EGR. I could hear a sound at the turbo manifold sounded like metel ratteling. I think it is my flapper as I only welded the arm on the front of the turbo. I noticed the car was 1/8 warmed up and the manifold seemed like it was getiing really hot. It started to act funny so I shut it off. I pulled the plug and the were kind of white am I running lean. I am running the same tune I had with the s16g. The car sat for 2 months with no oil in it and hasent been started in 3 months till tonight(gas in tank is 3 months old as well. I want to start the car again but im afraid that the fuel is wrong and I dont want to mess anything up. Any ideas on any of this and info on if you leave the vac line off till it is fully warmed up.
Thanks
AJ

you left a vacume line open to the atmosphere and your wondering why your car was running lean?

No I pluged it. I just went to look at the car and took off the SS oil feed line at the banjo bolt at the head and there is no oil in it? I hope the turbo is ok im freaking out. I used the same feed from my s16g I dont understand why there is no oil in the line.

Started the car again for a few seconds and checked the oil feed line again there was oil in it this time. I wonder why there was not any from before when I pulled it off. The only thing that worries me is I hear this sound. Its like gasket is loose and hittig something to make it rattle. I can find out where it is though it is louder if you are under the front of the car. I checked the turbo spins nice with no sounds when I spin it. I reved up the motor as well and you can hear it spool up.

I have fuel pressure set up so when I start the car and im at 10-12 hg vac im at 38-39 psi.
The car just dosent idle like it did befor I swaped everything out. Here is a pic of the spark plugs (which are the old ones with 5000 miles on them) and my turbo setup.

Wiseman help me out here. I hope not haveing oil in the motor for that long didnt do anything to the bearings. I turned the motor over for 8 seconds 3 times befor I started the car oil pressure gauge showed 100 on start up so there was pressure i just dont understand why no oil went to the turbo oil feed line. When I first started as well the lifters went nuts for about 4 seconds.

One last thing when I took out the spark plugs I looked in the hole to the piston and the
2nd from the timing belt looks like it is polished silver with some carbon and the one closest to the trans has a few spots of polish look the others look like the have carbon on them. Since I took off the EGR do you think it cleaned the tops that fast or is that a bad sign.. I am getting a logger tommorow from this guy and see what the motor is doing.

Any thoughts tips idea etc welcome I need to get it to run better befor I drive it to the dyno 1 hur away. I was tuned for 22 psi on my 16g I would think there would not be much of a diffrence . The only thing I can think of is I was on a 255 walbro stock FPR and now im more in controll of the fuel pressure. I dont know much about base tuning. I can tune a wot but everything else is confusing still.
I will post my S-AFC corrections soon maybe you can tell me what you think.

This is the tune I have run since I got the car about 35000 mile's ago almost 2 years. Was street tuned by the guy how did the motor very well know man.

Oh and I think im going to break the weld and pull the flapper tighter and start the car to see if that is what is ratteling. I was thinking about takeing off the downpipe from the o2 housing and see if I can hear it that way but then it could be a sound from the motor as it would echo through the exhaust. I hate staying up late to get your car going I have to be a work at 6:00 am (I guess im calling off).

You said that your car holds 10-12 in Hg at startup. My car now holds 18 in Hg after I fixed some boost leaks that I had. Have you done a boost leak test at all?

I assume that you were easily outflowing the stock fuel pressure regualtor, so my only guess would be that your car was tuned for above stock fuel pressure. An unknown boost leak would only make the problem worse.

First I would do a boost leak test, then I would put some new gas in the car and see if that cures your problem. Good luck.

I have cams and I never let the car fully warm up wasent running right so I keep shuting it off. Usually I sit around 14 hg. I did a boost leak test from turbo to last intercooler pipe and none its solid. From the elbow to the motor the biggest leak is at the fuel injectors.
I have some other post that might help with things that I have done and found since the car sat from end of November till yesterday.

If you have a leak from the fuel injectors, I am not sure where, this will certainly cause your car to run poorly. Tell us more about this.

Don't worry about your oil feed line, oil is supposta come out of there, so I think you can cross that off your list of potential problems. There is no logical reason why there woulndt be oil comming out of there.

Stick to the basics, boost leak test, compression test, base timing check, check timing belt, change plugs, check for spark. Things of this nature will help you solve your problem.

First of all, if your battery was unpluged for long enough your ecu will reset so you will have to let it idle for 10-15min and let it get back to running order.:thumb: just a tip if you did unplug it.
