Let me start off by welcoming myself and apologizing for the very long first post.

I'm from the maxima forum and am new to imports (one week ago I made my first purchase). Unfortunately there isn't alot of information over there except "Which ground effects do you like better" and "which headlights are brighter", or "How do you sit while your driving", etc you get the idea.........So I thought I would come to you dsm guys for a little knowledgeable information. I did a search and found a lot of datalogging information. There are a few specific things I am trying to figure out before purchasing and can't find what I'm looking for.
I want one of these realllllly bad. I've been looking at a few of them, but never personally used one.

and
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Windo...spagenameZWDVW (He has the exact same thing for nissan's it's just not online right now)

I talked to the guy on the second auction and said he would do a gb for 10-$90 20,-$85 shipped. (Most of the maxima guys have already jumped on it, but we could maybe get them cheaper with 30 or 40, all transactions are thru the ebayer and you directly and thru ebay, just making a list to get in on price.)
I have a few questions for people who have used these.---We have a scope at work -Fluke 98, Mastertech, Tech2, ETC. I asked another guy about these there and he said they where okay. He said this is the reason they went to obd II and these should work well. That all prices will come down drastically by 07. when all software is mandatory to be universal. I'm not sure I buy this.I have found you usually get what you pay for....... I have 4 Main questions.............
1.) How are the scopes on these? I.E. reading time measurement....For example if I want to read an 02 sensor and the test/fail says the lean/rich scope says it should change from .3 to .6 volts in say 200 Milliseconds.- Do these scopes really have CONSTANT live feed from the sensor thru the pcm? Or do they do something more along the lines of take a measurement of the 02 every 100 milliseconds or so and draw a "constant" line between readings? ---This is a steal if it has a constant real time scope that doesn't just give "snapshots" every .1 or .05 of a second and draw a line looking like "constant" live feed.-(If I wanted to check for "dead spots" on a tps I would need it to be constant, not just snap shots.
2.)It has a so called "dyno"--are these b.s. or what??? Can anyone claim to their accuracy as compared to a REAL dyno??
3.)the virtual E.T. Slips. (60 foot, 1000 foot, etc) How does this work??? I am assumming that it reads the mileage and speed thru the pcm analyzes this data and converts it into 1/4 times etc using the laptop clock.---Does the pcm odometer gauge go by .10 miles or .001 miles??? I mean the scanner would know where you where when you hit .2 miles but how does it know .25 miles? Does it calculate the difference or does the pcm odometer show in .001???
4.)Is there a delay between what you do and data on laptop? For example if you are checking TPS and go WOT will the scope immediately show a higher voltage or will it take a second or two?? I noticed this connects to the usb and not serial, so I am assumming they show information relative quick???
If this thread is confusing I appologize, I will try to clean it up if its hard to read.

My main interest is the DTC and scope capabilities, the others are just a huge added bonus.
Think of how much time this will save me :)....Hell I could check my maf or TPS with a laptop in the heat of my car, I'm just concerned it may not pick up dead spots if it just shows "snap shots" and draws a constant line between readings....

Again sorry for the long post and I look forward to any help you may have to offer.

I'm officially confused. I was clear in my description, used proper grammer, and made it clear it wasn't a report and I have only 1 view, myself.

If you are looking for a scope, I would suggest the Snap-On Vantage II meter. Is Snap-On and your mostly paying for the name but it works great. Its the only Snap-On tool that I have. It goes for about $400-$600 dollars off the truck. It samples I belive don't quote me on this I'm gessing without the manual in front of me, every 200 milliseconds and is pretty much a live feed. It can't clear OBD II codes its just a scope/multi-meter, but it is a fantastic tool. It does not plug into the PCM but using back probe pins in the sensors, so essentialy it is stealing the signal from the sensor. But like I said for diagnostic work its great, its already payed for it self with me. Other than that I am guessing at what you were talking about since neither of the links you posted works. If you want to know any thing else feel free to ask.
