I'm about to embark on a full engine rebuild of a 1997 Eclipse GST Convertible, during which I hope to learn a lot. While trying to avoid coming off as some pretentious dick, I've decided to start a blog to keep track of my progress and provide step-by-step instructions (via my experiences and a Haynes manual) with pictures of everything.
So far, my two posts have simply been about buying an engine and a shell. In the interim, I've removed both engines (from the donor and recipient cars) but I failed to take detailed enough notes/pictures to formulate a post about that. From now on, I will be excruciatingly detail-oriented about such things.
Over the next 6 months, I will be overhauling and modifying the engine as well as installing a number of bolt-ons (FMIC, 20g Turbo, etc). I AM NOT TRYING TO POSE AS SOME KIND OF AUTHORITY ON DSMS!!!! I'm simply hoping to offer anyone else considering a project like this a little preview of what's to come and some reference resources on what steps to take.
This blog will rely heavily upon information within DSMtuners.com and I will be using numerous links back to the forum. So being, I am looking to you as a community for advice and suggestions regarding the format, tone and content of the blog. Have there been others like this before? What did they have that was beneficial to the community? What did they lack? What would make this blog different/better than other before it?
Thank you in advance for your advice and support,
