Having a problem with the oilfilter unscrewing itself somehow. I belive its the 2 1/2 inch dumped o2 slaming into it because the front and rear motor mount bolts are out right now. And they all are poly mounts.

Any in site on this?

Thanks,
Josh

My car has the same problem. Previous owner said it did the same as long as he had it. So far it has not came off enough to cause any damage. Any info would be great on how to stop it.

its very common, use some clamps and wires and attach it to something so that it stays in place.

That is NOT how you fix it. That is a band-aid to the problem. VERY common 2g oil cooler problem. What you need to do it take the oil filter off. Either A) retorque the oil filter stud back down or take it off and try it again or take the assembly off and see if the seal is out on the back. They only cost about 4 bucks from Mitsubishi and I think I even have one laying around my house. Then align it, retoqrue the stud and reinstall the filter. Don't think that you have to tighten the filter down til it won't turn. Common misconception. Just get it hand tight up until the gasket touches then maybe a 1/4-1/2 turn more. Worked for me.

I already answered your question in your last thread. Don't double post. Big no-no in the rules.

I have had mine come loose a couple times. I would recomend using the worm drive clamp on the oil filter with a peice of safety wire tied off to something that won't allow the filter to rotate.

Call it a bandaid if you will, but I have a 90 style air/oil cooler with none of that junk that can cause problems, and mine still come loose if done hand-tight. I can crank it down with a wrench and it will stay on, but anyone with a 91-99 style water/oil cooler should not try and do that or risk crushing the cooler and turning it into a water/oil mixer.
