Viscous LSD and Gearing questions
I have a 95 GSX MT with the Factory Viscous type LSD in the Rear Diff.
Lately I have been hearing a rattling noise from the unit. So yesterday I change the fluid
And wow.. a bunch of blue looking grease like substance came out. And then the fluid.
So I put in some BG Sync II and the Mitsu LSD friction modifier into the unit. The car still makes the sound but it seems to go away now So my question is what was the blue looking grease stuff and should I replace this unit since something is rattling around inside and if I keep driving it.. will it lock up and throw the car out of control?
The car is a 95 so I think I was the first person to change the fluid. The car has 108k on it
And I have changed all the other drive line fluids @ 104k. The noise stated at 107k.
GEARING QUESTION:
My friend has a 98 GSX MT without an LSD Rear diff Our gearing seems to be really different.. at 65 his car is turning 2600 rpm while my 95 GSX at 65mph turns at 3000 rpm 5th gear
@ 75mph his car is just a 3100 rpm (I need to check the log) while mine is at 3400 rpm or so I find that odd what do you guys think?
