Smoke from exhaust after catchcan install?

Well I got a new exhaust and an intake and I installed both of them. Drove it afterwards with no problems at all. After that I also installed a catchcan and it was fine as well. The next day I was on my way to class on the freeway and I noticed smoke coming from my exhaust when I revved it or gave it some gas. The smoke looked more white w/ a greyish tint to it. But the odd thing is, it stopped after about 30 seconds, which doesn't make any sense to me.

Well after I stopped, I looked under the hood and there was a lot of oil coming out of my oil cap. So I remembered that when I installed the catchcan, I blocked off the other side of it, so I'm guessing the excess pressure had no where else to go than out the oilcap.

Does that make any sense? I'm not sure whether it's a bad thing or not. And as of now, the car hasn't smoked since.

Any help would be great,

Why did you block the other side off? just a question. A catch can is supposed to act as a filter, to help filter out the bad sludge crap so it does not get recycled back into your motor. I think you were right, no place for the oil to go because of the pressure buildup.

A breather vent? It's got a little breather filter on the inside of the clear container, and it has two nipples. I had hooked up the top nipple to the breather hose from the valve cover, and I plugged the other nipple off. So basically I'm thinking that the excess crankcase pressure had no where else to dump off into since it was blocked off, and it spewed out of the oil cap.

But what I'm really confused about is the smoke that poured out my exhaust as I drove and revved it, it only lasted about 30 seconds, and it hasn't come back since it happened this morning.

I checked the compression and here were the results :
#1 : 150
#2 : 150
#3 : 155
#4 : 155

They checked out fine, especially for a motor with 108k mi on it, with a service limit of 121psi.

Ok your catchcan hase 2 nipples correct? You ran the vent off the valve cover, (normally connected into the intake piping) to the catchcan and capped the other unused nipple on the catchcan,

If this is all right, remove the cap on the catchcan you blocked off. Think about it you think your venting air/oil from the valve cover into the catchcan. But actually your only creating a complicated cap on the valve cover.

Take the plug/cap whatever off the catchcan and put one of them tiny breather filters on it. and walla.

That's exactly what I said after it had happened. I honestly don't know what the hell I was thinking when I capped it off, but apparently it seemed like a good idea at the time, sigh. It's worrying me now, because after it happened my car is dripping oil like crazy, underneath the car, and not just in one spot, it's scattered from the oil filter, oil pan, lower belt area, etc.. all the way down onto my driveway, and it's pretty bad.

I'm hoping it's just from when it spewed out of the oil cap, and it's just all making its way down, but it seems like quite a bit. I don't know what else it could be? Could I have blown some other seals by blocking off that breather hose? The valve cover gasket seems fine, no leaks from there.. but I don't understand where else it could be coming from.

Any help would be great, this is ridiculous.

wanna blow a head gasket, hey? you need to vent that thats why it was hooked up to the intake hose! most of the time they dont do sh*t to a car just for mothing. gt a breather filter and hopefully you didnt blow and seals especially the spark plug seals, easy fix but you can loose a lot of oil.
