Well as some of you may know my Spyder was totalled by a drunk driver back in March. This is the new Spyder I've replaced it with. It has the same motor setup, suspension and electronics as before. It is a 99 with black leather interior and has been converted to AWD.

Looks good. It's like a... reincarnation.

you never cease to amaze us. congrats, looks very nice. Now, are you happy being awd or did you like the highway pulls of front?
You know I think I like the AWD better cause the car doesn't feel any slower from a roll. I thought for sure I was gonna feel alot slower but it doesn't feel that way. I've already smoked a c5 corvette with bolt ones from a roll and at only 18psi. :D

i was thinking about doing that swap after college how big of a dent will it leave in my wallet
It depends on how good of a deal you can get on parts. I picked up a 96 talon for 1000.00. Only problem was that it had an overheated motor. Didn't care cause I didn't need the motor. A locla guy here in town did the conversion for me for 900.00 including making me the catback. It was a heck of a deal compared to Road race who charges 2k. Plus the guy who did it does some badass work. Car looks like it came that way.

900 was a pretty dam good deal. how much does it weigh? Or i guess u probably have not weighed it yet.

**** bows down to the new master ****

That's very cool man, nice ride. :thumb:

You dont happed to have in progress AWD conversion pics do you? Cause Ive never seen it.

Saw the car in person and it's looking awesome. :thumb:

and at only 900 for a AWD conversion and 3 inch cat-back....damn. OMG

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I have not weighed the car yet. I'm sure down the road I'll do some weight reduction. The guy who did the conversion for me has pics. I'll try to get them and post em. The coversion is not that hard, it was easier than I thought. Me and some buddies pulled all the parts off of the Talon(Easy). We also pulled all the stuff off the Spyder that was not needed. All the mounting locations are there for the rear end and gas tank. You just have to modify the mounting locations like add different studs. Half of it was just bolt on. All the stuff that was just bolt on we did. I just had him fab up the mounting locations and make me the exhaust. Just time consuming but not that hard. Definitely worth it.

eh...you ain't all that

sweet... I was wondering if I could do that with my GST? or does it have to be a spider? from what I noticed only spiders do it... I was looking into doing it after my car is near completion and i just need more stuff to do..

Considering you would need a donor AWD car to do the conversion, it would probably be easier to mod the AWD platform rather then swap the drivetrain into a GST. The only reason for swapping the AWD setup into the Spider is because it never came that way.

ICIC hehe the reason i ask is because i heard spider chasis are stronger so I wanted to know if that was the reason... But anyways I put a lot of work into my GST now as is... So you can see why I would just do an AWD conversion then starting all over again...

From the looks of your profile it's not that much stuff to swap over. If I were you I would just get a gsx platform. It would be alot easier. :thumb:
