Verdun,
Hi,

I was trying to install a dvd headunit. I got the wire harness adapter and also the factory amp adapter so that I won't have to remove the factory amp.

I soldered every wire according to their colors and everything went fine. My dvd and monitor were both working with no problem.

However, when I thought my mission was completed, I was about to leave my car (car was off) and right when I closed the door, then I started to hear my speakers were making crazy loud noise.

I had to unplug my battery for it to stop making noise. Tried many times and checked all the wire connections and it was still the same.

If anyone knows what's going on, please kindly help me out!

Thanks!

Did you install an aftermarket amp.? It sounds like an amp isn't turning off, and picking up noise from closing the door, and putting it out through the speakers.

Hi ArticNemesis,

I'm still using my factory Infiniti amp, that's why I had to get something called the MITAH adapter so that I could use my new HU with the factory amp.

It sounds like the new HU is still sending power to the amp when its off. Triple check that you haven't crossed the 12v wire with the acc on wire. Also Check the adapter, cause sometimes they get it wrong but you'll probably end up doing as Defiant suggested (and I also recomend) and scrap the amp.

Thanks for all your replies! :)

It really sounds like the stock amp is a piece of crap. Yesterday I unplugged the power to the amp and the noise was gone, but now the sound is pretty bad since the tweeters don't work.

I wonder how I could bypass the amp, if I do so, would the tweeters work? I don't really know anything about audio and this is the first time me installing a HU. Hope this question is not too stupid to ask.

You will have to rewire the tweeters. Some will tell you to splice into the head unit wiring harness, some will tell you just to splice off of the door speaker wiring.

For simplicity's sake, I just spliced off the door speaker wiring and it worked for me.

***edit*** Also note, that any amplifier that does not turn off after the head unit is powered down will give you feed back from any vibrations. (ie. door closing, brake pedal being depressed)

for the love of little green apples use a crossover, power that from the head, and pick up the wires for the door speakers and tweeters from the old amp connector under the seat.

I just rand a new set of speaker leads using 16 ga under the carpet down to the passendger seat area and used a set of fosgate crossovers I had laying around.

DONT try running your tweeters full range.

Agreed. :thumb:

Thank you all !!

So I'll do the rewire using a crossover then, hope it's not as hard as I think OMG

Easy as Pie.
Just use your drill battery to "pop" the speakers and test each wire.

As I remember the black stripe was always ground.
Sorry I don't have my car here or I'd go get the wire colors for you.
I'll scan in a diagram in a minute
