Well last night i got my 50 trim back and beginning to do a pull in third gear to log stuff my oil pressure sending unit shot out of my motor just as my O2 dump opened up and bam the whole engine bay and driver side of my car was up in flames. OMG I quickly shut down the motor and the fire was out with doing any major damage under the hood some melted vacuum lines. but other than that the motor is fine but the body is a different story as it melted and bubble most of the paint on it. :thumbdown

Umm not with just liability which is ok i need to paint it anyways...tryin to find anything positive about this... off to auto zone to get a new sending unit and oil and fire it up again....no pun intended. :dsm:

Yeah, everyone should have a fire extinguisher in their car, somewhere easy to reach. Glovebox, behind seat, etc. I'm gonna get one, theres a few small car size ones on ebay.

I feel you man, my first time fire'n up my newly installed motor, it went up in flames. Injector o-ring decided it would be a good idea to leak and a spark plug decided to pop off at the same time giving the gas some spark.......and yeah. Well i bought a fire extinguisher right after that, its a good idea to have one.

all I can say is... :toobad:  WTF

Kid, you were obviously using too much NOS. You're lucky you didn't blow the floor right out of your car.

nah the oil pressure sending unit was installed properly i know that cuz i put it in. :notgood:
sorry, but if it was... they do not just "pop out"...
If it came apart at the casing, that is a manufacturer defect...
otherwise... install error.

In 15 years of working on cars I have never seen anything just "pop off"...
Rust off, break off, back out (due to poor install) get knocked off by something... but never just "pop off" without an underlying cause...

well i know how it was installed and just so you know im not a kid, ive been working on cars for 10 years and i understand that too but i couldnt find the sending unit to see if there was anything wrong with it. but im not going to sit here and argue with you over somthing that has happened over 8 months ago it was something that happened in the past and im rebuilding it again and ill go back at it again. and we will see what happens then. :thumb:
