My tranny is going out in my '92 talon tsi awd and I need another replacement tranny that I can just drop in place, ideally without doing any work to it to make it happen. Will a '94 GSX Tranny be directly compatible with a '92 talon TSi? If not, what do I need to change out in order to make the gsx transmission work in the TSi?

It should be the same and you should have no problems. The only thing different on the 1st genereation DSM's is the 1990 transmissions with the shift cables and the 22 spline input shaft.

Isn't the input shaft on the '92 TSi Talon 23 Spline? The one I counted on the GSX's input shaft was 20 spline.

If I use the 20 spline input shaft, do I just have to use a 20 spline clutchplate to make that work?

Other ideas, suggestions...? Cheaper ideas are better. I'm on a budget.

I should have calrified. 22 Spline on the intermediate input shaft that goes into the transfer case.

Bottom line, a 94 AWD trans is a direct bolt in on a 92 AWD DSM. As long as we are talking manual to manual and auto to auto.

Oh okay, makes sense. Does that include the tcase or any other parts, or are we talking strictly the transmission? If so, what is the spline count of significance that I should be counting? I was counting the one in the clutchplate housing.
