hey guys, i met this kid who just bought a RX7FC3S non turbo but anyways i thought i would tell this kid to a track instead of trying to kill himself on the streets trying to do his drifting/racing ect ect... so i thought he should try out like an autocross track or even join autocross to help him learn... So anyone know where one of these tracks are... Well I also heard GRN goes autocrossing... And I would also like to meet some fellow DSMers around the MA area :)

well anyways hope to hear from u all

Nah, SCCA AutoX sucks! :) Way too many people, way too few runs per day and you end-up staying later.

Local BMW CCA runs better AutoX events, IMHO! :). All of their events are at Ft. Devens at Ayer MA.

For drag racing, we meet at NED (New England Dragway) once/month (second Wed of every month). Plus, they have import events at NED last Sat of every month, so most of us go to NED at least twice/month.

In addition to AutoX and Drag racing, you can also do some oval track tracing for very little money. Check out spectator drags www.seekonkspeedway.com . It is a small, 1/3 mile oval where two people race from stop for one lap (final race is two laps). It is as close as you can get to legal street racing around here. Only, you do it front of 10,000 spectators.

For more local info, you might want to join New England Club DSM (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/NewEngDSM/ ), just make sure to fill out your PUBLIC profile.

Enjoy!

You can actually still run nationals with NER, but that really doesn't matter for our buddy here who's just starting.

BMWCCA is good, but if you want the wisened geezers who are multi-national champ winners, you go to SCCA, also if you want a lot of variety of cars other than clunky beemers and 80% of the people who can't drive... I guess it's a matter of how much competition you want.

Have you actually been to BMW CCA autox? Almost all local DSMs race with BMW CCA this includes Fedja, Charles Moss, Josh W. and myself. Why don’t you cross reference our names against DSM AutoX since its inception and you will find that took 1-3 places in all sorts of different classes. So arguably, some of the best DSM AutoXers are racing with BMW CCA, what better competition can you ask for?

Fedja used to race more with SCCA, because of the nationals, but the rest of us stopped attending SCCA autoX years ago because the wait to run ratio was just terrible!

Plus, in the past, BMW CCA did not classify the cars based on mods. There wasn’t any of the mods-nazis running around complaining about every little thing. Because of that, there were always a lot of highly modified cars at their events, way before SCCA introduced Mod class. Now, they adapted SCCA PAX system (much to my dislike…), but a lot of the old guys are still there (mainly because there isn’t anywhere that you can go :).

No, I guess you haven’t been there in a while… Beemers comprise 50% or fewer of cars at these events… I am not a huge BMW car fan, but the larger than average number of BMWs does not seem to bother me. I mean, it is their event, I am grateful that they open it to others.
