Just run it. If you get protested running as a novice, you should find a different group to run with. You'll get the rules figured out before you start outrunning the regulars.
ESP (street prepared) is a good class if you have V3 or other bolt on mods (still need stock internals and stock turbo). I just started autox last year and I was in ESP based the mods I had prior to getting started. Don't worry about what class they put you in, even it if ends up being SM. You won't be competitive as a beginner, so the class really doesn't matter. Go, have fun, learn, regardless of the class.
