Nobody was snapping photos while we were sliding around but I took the greenbean out to the test and tune this weekend and won loudest BOV and most wheelspin.

On street tires just getting there.

Awesome! Sounds like fun!

I'm not a fan of appearance comments, but that is the nastiest (in a good way) skidplate that I've even seen for a 1G. The TRF plate for an Evo X is completely under the car. I don't scare anyone. I'd move over for you on a dirt road.

ps. but then I'd try to pass you back ... :)

I have one piece of advice (even tho' you didn't ask me): think twice. A 2G doesn't have the front suspension travel to rallycross. I tried it. It wasn't pretty.

Did you just change your signature or am I really that unobservant? In any event, have at it. Good snows (e.g., Blizzaks) on the smallest wheels that clear your brakes is #1. Not too wide. 205-225. Then start planning the coilovers. That's the more complicated step, but can wait until next season at this point.

+1 to this. 2gs just aren't meant for it. However they do have superior suspension geometry for street/road course, and autocross.

Sick rally 1g man. Can't wait for all the "get a stock front bumper" comments. That car is pure function > form. The front bumper provides a place to mount the hellas, which you pretty much need to have for night rally.

Love the skid plate too.

You are very observant. :hellyeah: Although this is the 2nd time you told me not to rally my 2G (the first time was a different thread) :applause::p

By smallest wheels you mean R 15's or 16's? I was thinking about getting 195/55R16's snow tires. Good choice? or should I source 15 inch rims and go smaller?

Thanks,
Tom

15s are better, if they'll fit. There are some nice Braid and Team Dynamics 15" wheels for rally and rallycross and they aren't expensive. There's really nothing smaller; 15s are THE standard in RallyPrepared and above, plus the lucky ducks who can run them in Stock. What class are you running in? (I'm in Stock-AWD in an Evo X, so I'm stuck on 18s and that isn't helping.)

[As to me saying "no 2Gs" twice ... sorry about that but I answer a lot of posts on a lot of forums. But at least I checked your signature and avatar, first.]

Sweet Rally 1G Talon! I'm prepping my to RallyCross and hope to join the next event. Any pointers for me?

Its a Laser.

So I'm not much of a rallyXer. I did start the region's rallyX program back in 2000 and was chairman for events at 3 different venues but wasn't entering my events as a driver. I do stagerally. Event last weekend was a rallyX test and tune I went to w/ my recce car I sometimes use to make our pacenotes with. I didn't bother entering the timed rallyX the following day.

For cheap 15 inch wheels, I've seen Jeep wheels on Mitsu rallycars. Also Mitsu Diamante wheels are sturdy 15 inch rims. Nice thing about 15 inch is its the common size for rally tires and running in the class that permits rallytires can save you debeading non-rallytires. Depends on how quickly rutted your course gets and what other mods you want to do already if its worth competing in whatever class permits them in Canada. I've rallied in BC, beautiful.

Rally suspensions are expensive but worth it. Possibly could save you buying several sets of anything else. You don't need gobs of horsepower because you can't use much anyway. A fast spooling turbo or anti-lag would help though. A lower gearset would be beneficial. Check Jacks Transmissions online for options. Driving smooth is the greatest performance variable.
