I'll just let the video do the talking:

AWESOME!! But, what the hell was that Mazda running? It kinda burned you on the banking. Nice video. Too bad there wasn't some AWD slides going on. That would have been sick :thumb:.

Thanks guys. That Miata is my brother's track toy. It has a supercharger under the bonnet and RA1s on all four corners. 2400 lbs and ~210 HP.

Funny you mention AWD slides. I was able to drive my normal 'dry' line all day. Only time things got out of shape was the off at the end of the vid. I was working my way up to speed and when I turned into the corner the back stepped out a bit. No biggy, I got on the loud pedal and the car slid away from the apex instead of grabbing. I remember thinking, 'This isn't going to end well.'OMG

RA1's = Ah, someone lucky enough to afford those...

Haha, I see. I guess that was what the "Acme AWD" line was about :D. Do you have a Viscous in the rear? From the video, it looks like it was just a bit of oversteer that pushed your right front with it. Like the rears just went over the traction threshold, and the fronts just said "to hell with it" too and decided not to grip at all.

TWS is a fun track i do it alot on my Bike trackdays , fast track.

cool video man.

The rear does have a viscous, just need to do something about the front.

A good set of street tires (I'm running Potenza RE050A) costs just about the same if not more than R-compounds. I'm planning on moving to NT-01s sometime next year once these have worn out.

Have a happy turkey day everyone!

haha, yeah same here. Have not taken my car to the track yet but I suspect that it will be a problem when things get "hairy". First I need to get a smaller steering wheel so I can actually learn to heal-toe in my car. The stock wheel is HUGE!!!! And my pedals are weird and that needs to be changed/fixed.

I am still really surprised that you didn't get loose more often. You have Link so your tune should be about perfect (;)) so your response from the Evo3 should be insane. I have a crap tune and my first gear still lights 'em up if I am turning with a bit of "urgency".

DSMLink did make a little difference, but I'm running such low boost (11psi) the stock ECU should be able to compensate. I spent today getting my exhaust on and ready to have it fabbed up tomorrow, but still need to slap in the injectors and fuel pump. Weather permitting I'll be getting my wideband in and really see how my tune is.

You can still feel the AWD slip in the rain, but over time I've gotten very comfortable when that happens. It's something that comes with seat time. I'm not sure how much a front LSD will affect the car, but I'm really happy with how it tracks without one. The power seats in my GSX gets it pretty low so that the steering wheel is not an obstacle. And as for heel-toe, I just roll my right foot and hit the gas with the edge of my foot.

Yeah, 11PSI isn't too bad. But the seat is another thing. I have my Sparco S-Light attached directly to my Wedge bracket and the wheel is still in the way.

But still, nice video. Checked out the rest of that track day too. Nice to hear no music. :thumb:

crappy rap song
Sweet, redundancy and an oxymoron in only 3 words. Good on that! ROFL

NT-01's FTW! Those did well in the GRM shootout, and are priced well. I've talked to people who run them, and the say that they get a lot of weekends out of them before the compound goes away. That'll likely be the R's I get when the time comes.

I've been hearing the same things around these neck of the woods. My brother has run down a set of NT-01 and is now trying out the RA1s on his SC Miata. Curious to see what he thinks after a few more sessions.
