Autobahn Country Club is probably what you're looking for, for the closest track to Chicago. A good place to check is David Hillman's Planet Torque Motorsports Schedule, which covers upcoming solo and track events throughout the Midwest. Here's a quick link to all the events happening through the rest of the year that David knows about down at ACC.

(No, I haven't run there yet; once I'm convinced the Laser won't come apart on me after a couple of laps, I'll be there at the first HPDE they host.)

I went to Gingerman earlier this summer for this: http://www.wmhm.net

Its one of the cheapest track days around, $90 including an instructor if needed. I ran about 110 miles on the track the day and had a blast. I think I scared some of the poor Honda's though
