Ported Head off a 2nd Gen... Is it Worth it?

I was planning on gettin my intake side ported on my head to match the stock 90-94 Intake Manifold... Would it be worth it? I was talking to a local machine shop that build race cars and they said that if u take way too much off that it would give maybe a poor throttle responce. Any ideas? Has anyone else ported their 2nd gen head intake side? How did it turn out? What exactly did u port and does it make a difference? I was thinking maybe just gettin a 1st gen head to save all the money and hassle on porting but i cant find a good working head that is ready to be bolted on. Would it be better I just get a 1st gen head in the first placE? Let me know guys.. Thanks

a properly ported 2G head supposedly flows more than an unported 1G head

I got a 2G head ported and port matched for a 1G intake. I gained 5 mph in my trap speed and took off .5 sec. I still can tune it better. I ran out of time. I didn't notice any loss of throttle response.
