Hey whats up? I just got my Talon a few days ago, its a 1996 TSi AWD, 5speed. Anywho, I was driving through the Hastings parking lot and there was a part that you had to go through exiting the lot a certain way. It didnt look bad, just like some ice with a little water in some spots. I started driving through at under 5mph, i hit a pothole that i swear was never there before this winter, it made a sound like it bottomed out, made this sound about 6 more times leaving the parking lot, I tried to avoid as many is possible. I went home and started watching a movie with my girlfriend, and well, it was time for me to take her home so we went out to my Talon I started it up and my ABS light was on and the ABS system wasn't working at all. The light didnt go off the whole way to her house and back. Any ideas on what happened and how much it will be to fix? Also when I bought the car I was informed that the tie rod was a little loose, could that have something to do with it? Also, the day after I got the car I took it to Jiffy Lube because I was lazy and I wanted their opinion on the car, also because it was making a ticking noise that would get a little worse sometimes yet go away other times, I had it looked at by a mechanic at a local dealer they said it was my injectors LOL. Anyways, I paid Jiffy Lube $84 to run some Gummy or something company Oil System Cleaner through it and they recomended to let them put in full synthetic oil, even with 110,000 on the Talon. After having it for a little while I noticed this, only after the synthetic was put in, when I first start the car the factory gauge reads a little above the bottom line of the gauge, then I give it some gas, only a little, and it will bring the pressure up to normal until I sit at a stopsign or stoplight for a little while. Is this normal also? And was $5600 a good price for the car? It's got ABS, power seats, leather interior, sunroof, its a TSi AWD, body is pretty much perfect, the driver window won't go down the dealer I had look at my engine and listen to it said that the window problem is a switch in the door, also the rear wiper doesn't exactly work right, other than that everything works fine. Thanks in advance, this is my first post on here, but I am the NorthWest moderator of Beretta.net.

Thank you,
Anthony

What's sad is on the Beretta boards which have not even half the people of this board, my topics actually at least get replied to. And with helpfull advice. This is a good board, but No one seems to ever reply  Anyways, my ABS light isnt on anymore but I havent driven it yet today.

ABS - Check your fluid

Rattly sound - Probably that tie-rod end.

Oil Gauge - Normal

Ticking Sound - Normal for DSMs. Injectors always tick softly. HLAs (Lifters) can tick loudly. Not really a problem, can cause phantom knock. Revised lifters can be found for something like $150 for 16 of them. Mostly just annoying. Synthetic oil is good, and can help with the ticking.

Price - You got ripped for all the things wrong w/ the car. I wouldn't describe it as "pretty much perfect" with all the broken things.

Delay - Sometimes people aren't on much on the weekend, just gotta give us time to get to "work" where we sit on DSMTuners all day :D Weekends are for playing with the car, not the 'net. Your little short-story of problems there is also too long to read :D hehe.

Thanks! So low oil pressure is normal when you switch to synthetic? Thanks for the reply! Oh and my ABS works again! LOL

Thanks :thumb:

No, synthetic doesn't cause low oil pressure, but many things can cause that gauge to read differently than before: Temperature, Oil type, color of your undies. (read as: the gauge sucks bum)

Just keep your eye on that oil idiot-light, if that comes on, then you _actually_ have low oil pressure/level.

Lol, I actually check my oil, I don't wait for the light to come on, because alot of times when it comes one you have already caused damage to your engine. LOL
