I am having a serious problem with my ignition, The key will not turn. I have some idea of what the problem is, something to do with the steering wheel lock thingy. If anyone has any ideas to help me start my car please help me... There has to be a way to override the lock thingy. Please this is very urgent! Thanks!

You need to remove the plastic Steering wheel column cover - Remove key lite - Insert key - Turn to Accessory - Insert a small drill to depress a little brass spring loaded button at the underside of lock assembly in bottom - Then jiggle key & slide out the lockset assembly - it has the actuator arm on it that locks the steering column.

tried the turning of the wheel and turning the key at the same time, no luck. it seems that buck knows alot about what is going on is that the most detailed idea you can tell me? or can you make it a little more detailed? thanks

How's this for more detail - Get a phillips screwdriver - Get a drill bit & Get to work! - It's a piece of cake - Once you slide it out lay the lock assembly on something clean - Clean it (wd40)- Insert key & see if it's better - If not you then need to remove the tumbler assembly from the Lock Assembly & see what's jamming it - Just go Slow & pay attention to what you are doing so you can the damn thing back together - I just did all this 2 weeks ago when the end of my key broke off INSIDE the Tumbler assembly.

BTW once you slde the lock assembly out take a flat blade screwdriver & turn Ignition off (or on & start if you need to go somewhere) Kinda like a car thief...

so the whole lock will slide out allowing me to start the car with a screwdriver? thanks that will work just fine.

im having the same problem but my key wont turn at all it goes in fine everything lights up but it wont turn. will the cylinder still come out?

No - it's interlocked where the key must be in Accessory position before you can slde out the lock assembly - Lubricate & jiggle it until you can move it - Be careful & don't break the key off in the Ignition lock.

Buck.. Your directions are pretty direct. But how can you turn the key to Accessory if you cant turn the key?

This is the only method I know of - You may need a Locksmith.
