I have
a 1990 plymouth laser rs turbo, Ok it is cold out right now which may be a cause of the squeaky belt, but anyways to what I want to discuss ok. I just put a new belt on the alternator and now it squeeks the old belt squeeked to and it broke so I had to replace it and now it is sqeeking just as bad as the old did. I have noticed that when I put a strain on the alternator such as defrost and fans on hi or windows etc. The belt squeels and it doesnt go away unless I push down the clutch or just wait till the car warms up more. Sometimes it sqeeks even when it is warmed up. SO my question is is it my alternator going out or do i need a new tensioner or tighen it more. I would sure love some insight from anyone else who may have had this problem.
P.S Also when I am idling my car seems to idle rougher when I am using defrost or other electronics.
Thank you
