100 PSI or more oil pressure when over 4K rmp

my aftermarket oil pressure gauge is reading 100 PSI and more when accelerating. I have been told that it is way too much and there must be a problem. any comments? should I be worried? gauge reads about 15 or so PSI when ideling...

Theres a recent Thread somewhere where the guy reported 115-120 psi at 6 & 7k redline when hot & 50-60 PSI when Idling cold - 100 at 4K sounds completely normal to me. You are talking to people who don't know what they don't know - that's a very dangerous person around a DSM.

This goes against everything I know and can be completely wrong with today's engines. I have seen high oil pressures in excess of 90 psi on rare occasions but 15 years ago anything over 90psi was considered dangerous for combustion the pressures were so great it would cold flow the babbit (tin/lead alloy) from the bearings. I tried an internet search and found no credible source including Federal Mougu for the adverse effects of high oil pressure. What I did find was 10psi for each 1000 rpm thus at 9,000 an engine would have 90psi which makes me wonder what's going on.

Pressure will hit 115 psi on a cold winter day at 3k RPM when the car hasn't warmed up yet. I have yet to have problems with the oil filter backing off due to too much pressure.
