i really need some help, i just found a 1995 Talon TSi AWD for sale with a blown motor and 83k on the chassis, drivetrain is still good, ít's black and has cloth interior, it's at a dealer and i offered him 2300 for it. now, i would love to own this car but i would also like a 93-94 TSi AWD and i know the 95 weighs more is that really a problembecause i would remove all unnecessary weight, but the 93-94's take less to make go faster and speed is what i am all about do you guys think this is a good buy should i be conserned about the weight let me know i am so stressed out right now

well if i was you, you being the all motor- looks dont matter- kind of guy.
i would go for the 1g cause its cheaper. You may find one for less than 2grand if you take your time in looking. Now if i was in your position i would buy the 2g, offer them 2000 for it and tow it home. Look for a six bolt, rebuild the fush out of it drop it in to the 2gAWD and be as happy as a hamster in his jail cell
1G awd=more power for less money but looks are questionable
2g awd= more money to get reliable power, unless you combine 1g with 2g, looking good smoking the comptetion,,,ha cant spell
good luck man

I hope you realize that this is not a slam dunk operation. For your own sake I would not pursue this at the money you offered. You would have done well to put a deadline of 24 hours on the offer. You will spend $1000-$2000 in buying an engine, making the repairs and then the swap. That brings you up to $4500 invested and you can buy a Calif. car with no rust and drive it all the way across country including the plane fare for less than that. Granted there are shades of gray in the above but you would have been better low-balling with $1500 and then negotiate upwards for you are too close to the loose money investment if you value your time at 25¢ an hour. Take a look at the Talon and Mitsubishi cars offered in the Recycler... recycler.com These are not just Ca cars for you may find some closer but remember which states have bad weather for you don't want to find something that looks great only to find out it has so much body cancer that it's just barely hanging on.

Cheers,
GTM
