:talon: I've recently done an engine swap from a trashy looking awd, into a fwd n/t that is flawless looking. Its got a $2000 paint job on it and i only paid $300 for it. i got it all wired up and running perfect. but when i put the gear selector into drive (yes its an auto:( but its better than my old 1987 camry) it does nothing. Everything is set up/bolted up correctly. its been inspected by an ase certified mechanic and he said its not worth his time. where can i find wiring diagrams for my application? I'd really like your imput so anything worth while would be greatly appreciated.

Did you loose ATF when you pulled the engine? What makes you think it's electrical and not mechanical as in the shift linkage is out of adjustment? Does it hold the car in park and can you start in both park and Neutral? You did remember to put the torqe converter bolts into the flex plate.

With the key on do the backup lights work? I'm amazed you were able to do the swap without a manual. Most of the manuals you find at Auto Zone etc. will have a wiring diagram plus trouble shooting for auto trans. There may be a suppliment to the factory manuals which were in color or wall charts available to dealers otherwise you are stuck with black and white drawings.

Did you check the ATF fluid level after you started the car?
.................

As for the ASE mechanic how was it he got to see your car if you can't drive it? Does he hold certification in automotive electrical systems. As some people will tell you taking a test is not the same as being able to actually do the work. He's telling you 1 of 2 things, either you can't afford to pay him enough or he doesn't feel comfortable with the work. More than likely it's #2 but he won't tell you that, I've never refused an electrical job in the 20k-30k cars I've worked on except for butchered radio or burglar alarms.

Cheers,
GTM
