Today i just installed upper and lower intercooler pipes with a greddy type s on them plus a rnr turboback o2 eliminator exhaust. I run the l hooked everything up on the bov and i think its right. I even hooked up the small line on the bottom of the bov to the turbo and the return into the intake but it makes no difference. Where the rnr exhaust had no cat but has a o2 sensor after the stock cat i cut a hole in the test pipe of the exhaust and welded in the o2 sensor. When i went to drive the car it makes a funny noise around 3k rpms and runs awful. It shakes wont build up rpms and sounds like its goin to blow up. I dont have any other mods to the car. Im not sure if i did something wrong with the BOV or the exhaust but my car wont run right at all.

OK to update my condition.......... I removed the BOV and the upper intercooler pipe and put the stock back on. This did nothing to change the condition. Next i tryed unpluggin the O2 sensor from inside the car that goes behind what would be the cat. if i had one. Still nothing. I need some serious help. The only other thing thats different on my car now besides the exhaust is the fact i cut out part of the stock air box plastic so as i could get the ic piping to fit correctly. I plan to put on a cone filter in a few weeks ne how i just didnt think i had to have one to get the ic pipes in. The air filter is still in the box its just not connected to the fender now and part of the side has been cut out. Is it possible i dont have enough back pressure now that i dont have a cat. and 2.5 exhaust pipes all the way back with a eliminator pipe as well? ITs all on the stock turbo which is a bit worn but had been workin fine before this. Any suggestions would be great.

First, what kind of car are we talking about.? It says non-dsm. (It's gotta be turbo b/c of the BOV, so backpressure isn't really going to be an issue here.)

Now, The RNR exhaust has no cat correct? Then you can't just attached the O2 sensor back into where it used to be, b/c there is no cat anymore.. Then you said you unplugging it. By this you mean
A) You just unplugged the sensor
B) You took the actual sensor still plugged in out of the pipe.

If you did A, that could be why your car is still running like crap.. You can't just unplug the sensor because the ecu uses the 2 O2 sensors to adjust fuel curves to make it run correct. I have heard of some people just wrapping the O2 sensor in aluminum foil (while still plugged in) and just tying it up under the car.

By the way, while playing with the sensor, did it throw a CEL light.?

My car is a 98 gst. IT actually used to be larryd's old gst. When i unplugged the sensor i just unplugged it from the plug under the seat of the car not the pipe. I didnt expect this to correct it. It was only a far stretch. I plugged it back in once i saw it still didnt work. I thought if the car didnt have a cat. and the plug was in it would run a lil off and have worse gas mileage. What i have goin on im scared to drive it any where. I havent seen a cel light but where this car was used and had so many mods done to it before im not sure if any thing has been done to the lights in my dash cuz i had to fix a couple of em already that werent workin when i got the car like the low fuel and security light. As far as smoke goes its only been some white smoke comming out and there is some black soot inside the muffler tip. The smell comming doesnt seem odd to me i smell some burn, but i think thats just from the exhaust being welded on.

Your symptons are inconsistant. You see white smoke and the black smoke. UNLESS you are talking about when you first start the car, thats doesn't seem right. What Imean is take the car for a 15 minute drive. Then have a friend look at the exhaust as you rev it up. Make notes of EVERYTHING being expelled from the exhaust, gases, smells, luquids sumps. Note color and texture if applicable too. Let me know, I'll get back to ya.

OK i just took the car for a few trips around the block to get her up to temp and what not heres in my best descritpion of what now is goin on in my car. In idle there is a flutter from about 1k - 2k then after that it seems to rev fine. First gear i can rev to about 4k then the car almost seems to slam the brakes on itself and it stops goin ne where. In second gear i get about the same thing at about 4k. In all the other gears i get a lot of vibration at 2 k and dont have the ability to really even rev it up. I can hear the turbo spool up, and my stock gauge is saying its fully boosting for what thats worth cuz i know the stock guage isnt much good for anything but its all i got right now. After riding around for a while and then getting a look at the exhaust tip after the ride I dont see any smoke actually but i do seem to smell fuel. The smoke i was seeing before was in idle not long after starting it up and must not had been to temp. The a black puff of smoke came when i dumped it into the car but this could have been from where it had just been welded yesterday. So hopefully this is a little more descriptive as to whats goin on. Id love for someone to message me on aol at roodaddy23 im on all the time cuz i need the help.

I was talkin about when i first put on the exhaust and bov on sunday i took it out on the road and accelerated hard in it.

There is a very good chance you have a major intake leak. Once the lower intercooler pipe blew off while I was driving and ran exactly as you described. Take a look at the upper/lower intercooler pipes again.

Ok todays update. I took out the O2 sensor out of the exhaust and wrapped it in foil. I pluged the hole in the exhaust with a bolt just to cover it up for the time be ing. I also checked my intercooler pipes and made sure they were all tight. This brought me some luck!! The car now seems to rev oddly and sluggish till about 3k the it seems to act decent from then on. After driving the car i looked at the exhaust as it was being rev on and i didnt really see any smoke but it was also half dark, but i do however smell fuel very strongly. The car also now idles hard. Almost like there is a bov venting to the atmosphere. Where do i go from here im pleased with the progress i have made but its still now all the way right. Would a intake upgrade from my stock box with a hole in it help, or maybe add a cat? I was also courious as to how other ppls intercooling pipes hooked up. The only pips i have that sits inside anything is the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler itself on the intercooler side. Everything else just butts up against what it goes to.

You don't have a CEL? Make sure the bulb isn't burnt out or that the bulb is actually there. If there is a code being thrown at this point, it would help out greatly in solving this problem.

Yeah i know it sux i didnt use to have a low fuel light or a security light btu i fixed them. I just got doen driving the car around town some and its still far from right and is running very rich but its better. I think im goin to get a car and try that plus maybe a intake. I know back pressure shouldnt be a problem it just seems as if the sucker has no live at certain rpms but yet i hear the turbo spooling its ass off.
