I need to know if there is another way to tell if the ISC motor is bad besides the ohm test. I have tested the ohms, all of the combinations are 38 ohms, I know the specs say 28 to 33 ohms. I have the ISC out of the car, is there another test that I can do?

Thanks

if its 38, its bad.

but in the haynes manual there is a test they talk about with a 9 volt battery, but i dont see how that would show if tehy are bad.

i have an isc for sale, its 28 across the board. if you need to replace that one in the end.

You didn't mention whether you were having idle serge or engine dying at idle. If this is happening, the ISC may be bad, even if the ISC resistances test good. I have an ISC, that I removed from my car, that tests 30 ohms accross the board, when cold but failed once warmed up. The car would run fine for about 10 minutes and then start to idle surge and then just dye, at idle. When warmed up, and tested on the car, one of the coils tested open circut. Once cooled down, it tested 30 ohms again. Drive the car until the problem develops and then test the resistances while on the car. It seems strange that all your coils all test 38 ohms. I wonder about the accuracy of your volt ohm meter.

Your ISC is bad. Mine started acting up also. The coils on mine were 35 to 38 ohms. I got a used one from a junkyard that measured 28 ohms all around, problem solved. Higher resistance means more current required and also means more heat generated.
