My Deck and System shut off suddenly

Please I need help with my 94 Laser, I just recently installed a new Sony Xplod cd deck with "REAL" harness's ( no hack and tape job this time) Also i have my Monster cables running to the back, plugging into my Sony Xplod 760watt amp, with a Bandpass box and 2 Polk 10in subs. My deck is grounded to a peice of metal near the opening of where the tape deck used to be. The amp is grounded to one of the top Rear strut tower bolts. Ok....for the problem, I can drive around and listen to my system "easy" for a while, but when i crank that shit up and get it fvckinboomin in like 4 mins, the deck and amp turn off. They will come on again in like 1/2 min, but shut off again. I cant turn volume up or it turns off. I got my battery and alternator checked...said they where great. I dont know what the prob is please help.

my old deck did this because too many ohms were being drawn by the speakers... I had the sub spliced into both the rear speakers. So, then I did I properly, with rca cables, and everything was fine.

your amplifier is tied to your cd deck and your amp is over heating from the heavy bass. make sure your not running both subs to one channel on the amplifier and make sure your amp is not overheating from prolonged bass thats too high. mine did this until i switched the cables and ran each sub to a seperate channel on my amp. You can do this by connecting the 2 in 1 spliced connector cords (you need 2 sets) to wire to both channels on your amp. they're like 15 bux a set.

Bumping a thread will get you warned or suspended. I wouldn't recommend doing that. Anyways it does sound like it is overheating and going into a "safe" mode. Turn the amplifier gain down and you should be okay. Make sure that bass boost is off also. Some amplifiers have a bass boost feature that will cause the sub to work twice as hard. Turn it off then turn the gain up. It will sound much cleaner also.

yes it comes back on in like a min...then runs all good again untill i turn it way up again.

yea don't bump a thread dude. anyways, i had the same problem. check the ground to your head unit....my screw that the ground was connected to was all but ready to fall out...I dont know how it got loose, but I no longer have the problem anymore. Its also probably your amp over heating if it shuts off when you turn it up. Gotta love Sony Xplod....

see the funny thing is it all was in a 1972 Dodge Dart and i never had this poblem b4 and i turned the system up to the moon and it bumped soooo incredibly hard and i never had any beef with Sony ever since....but in my new car it just wants to shut off oh well ill change grounds and change my (min-max) screw and (50hz- 150hz) screw on my amp and see what happens. thanks

I dont think your amp is overheating. I had this problem also with 2 different amps that both did the same thing. Its a common thing with the 1g's. If I am going down the highway I can turn it up really loud but soon as I let off the gas and the voltage drops the deck and amp completely shut off and come back on. Does the same thing when I am driving in the city. I cant turn it up really loud at idle or if the RPM's are under 2500 or it will shut off. Its the tiny alternators on the 1g's...not your amp or any of your cables/connections.
