Here i was all excited that i got power to all my electronics, then as i'm checking everything to make sure it works i hit the lock button and then close the door not thinking of it. Well, i dont really need in it right now since its not running but does anyone know a way to unlock the doors. I tried it with a coat hanger but it was to weak to push the p/l button down. Is there anyway to make the keyless entry system unlock it without having the keychain pad?

That sucks, that happened to me only once in my life. When I had gone all the way from Georgia to PA for 3 weeks on the day we were leaveing I get out the ice chest (I had just tossed the keys on a box inside and close the rear window to my Tarus GL wagon.. and think... ####!

I go inside come out with a hanger and 15min latter I have my keys back.

Moral of the story.. grab a slim jim!

Depending on how wide your window opening is for bringing a coat hanger in, just wrap a bit of duct tape around the end of the coat hanger so it's more sturdy. That should do the trick. :)

Good luck and let us know how you get it open!

wow, glad to see im not the only one to do this before. I'm just gonna let it go till friday, seeing how a couple people have used coat hangers, ill try that again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

thats why i have a coathanger "professionally installed" onto the bottom of my parents van... must have happened to me at least 5 times. First 2 times i called the cops and they did it for me... can you do that, or is it too obvious its not your daily driver? they'd do it for free if you fibbed about it... or just call the tow truck. gonna cost you though

funny thing is last week my sister ran over a box on the highway, hit the coathanger and it started to drag... she called up the house saying " i ripped something off the underneath of the van and now there's only a wire hanging!"
LOL :D  :thumb:

thats pretty funny stuff man. Yeah, it's real obvious its not my daily driver seeing that the bumper, headlights, and hood are remmoved. That accompanied by the thick layer of dust kind of ruin my chances but i do have a AAA membership so i'll call them if i cant get it open.

Hey guys,

I did a really stupid thing a few minutes ago. I locked my Eclipse with the keys inside and I do not have a dublicate with me. I was wondering whether anyone of you have had the same situation and whether I can call the dealer with the VIN of the car and request a dublicate of the key to unlock the car or I should call a locksmith and spend $100 on unlocking it?

Thanks,

Svetlin

It takes less than 30 seconds to get into a 2G. Slip a metal coathanger in through the rear edge of the window (it's soft there) hook it onto the handle and yank it. Ive done it 3 times since my wonderful gst locked the doors with the key in the ignition anyway.

You can have one made at any mitsu dealership. You provide the VIN and proof of ownership, like Insurance or something. Dont bother with trying to get it out because seems like you only have 1 key wouldnt hurt to have 2 then right?

you mean on a non-Spyder Eclipse. Do you think I can gain access to the power locks?

Hi,

Do you know whether I can have it made right there or I place an order and they will have it done in a couple of days?

i just did the same thing on my 1g :(

It looks like ill be biking to work tomorrow morning (only a few miles) and then to the mitsu dealer after that.

If you have one of those rubber door stops, the ones that angle a little like a hill, stick in in between the glass and wheather stripping. Then go to town with a coat hanger. If you have power windows just hit the button. :thumb:

How did you get a 100$ quote? I got mine done in 20 mins for 30$.

ok 1g's are easy to get into aswell...pry the trim on the 1/4 glass you will see little blue retaining clips for the glass loosen them, now pull on the window....the black goo is soft....now if your a skinny mofo or know any skinny people climb on in....or hit the lock to unlock with a golf club or somethin to that effect....

and 2g's:the coat hanger trick works but it takes a little to much time to my liking and if you have tint it f's it up sometimes. So what i like to do is pry the window back with your fingers. After you have that dont get a good hold on the window and start prying it open and stick your hand or some other object to unlock it....i havent ever broken a window this way but ive heard it has happened....

now break the column lock and open the fuse panel....JK

p.s. i dont steal cars or break into them(well my own doesnt count)i have owned a 2g with shaved handles and when they burned out i had to break in once or twice...and my 1g which i got no keys with(shady huh)i had to change the column off one of my other talons...so the key that starts the car doesnt do the doors....and ive gotten locked out a couple times...then when i was stripping my old talon i took the 1/4 glass windows out and they just popped out....so i kind of no the ins and out of DSM's so to speak....

i swear 2G's are so easy to break into, break out the coathangar, make a loop on one end (make sure the loop is closed) slip it over the handel and pull back. takes litteraly like 2-3 minutes.

haha yea, its kinda scary how easy it really is. i used the same technique a week ago when i locked my keys in my car at work for the 1st time. i really got to get an alarm for it :( sorry if this is a little off but if i have the green security light come on when i lock the doors does this mean i can go to mitsu and get a key fob made for keyless entry? i heard this somewhere but im not sure.. oh and i already got power locks too of course.

I've done this numerous times! Pry it open with a flathead. Then put something thick, I used a wallet cuz all I had at the time was that and a stick. LOL Anyway, put a wallet to hold the space open. Then use something long and sturdy to press the unlock button.

I have always made duplicates as soon as I buy the car because of problems like this at first. Makes lif a whole lot easier.
