fredericksburg,
ok, i have the idle surge until the car warms up thing. if i ever fix it, i will be an expert at fixing one.. ive tried and replaced everything, including throttle body, tps snesor(3rd one)isc motor, (3rd one, the one i have now tests good at 30 ohms across the board), idle stop switch, oxygen sensor, i replaced the ecu last year. ive had this problem for 3 years and am about fed up with it. im on to wiring checks now. i cant pull the codes according to haynes manual. there is no diagnostic port by the fuse box to plug a jumper wire into. anybody ever heard of this? its a 91 eagle talon n/t. i tested the output at the isc motor, cause it runs the same whether plugged in or not. there is no voltage at all to the outside terminals. the center two have 12V with car off(key on) and 14.5 with the car running. the book says only one terminal should have battery voltage and the rest less than that. and the oxygen sensor is supposed to have battery voltage at terminal 3. well it has battery voltage at terminal 4. im thinking this may be a typo. im really concerned with the isc plug results though. im sure im the only one that has had this extent of problems with this. i still cant figure out why i have no diagnostic port. it all loks factory under there with no cut wires or anything , but there is no port beside the fuse box. am i overlooking something. with the extent im getting pissed at this car it would be easy to miss something.
heres what i know its not: tps(ive set , checked range, bla, bla, bla)
throttle body(swapped and extensively cleaned)
egr
oxy sensor
i have to believe this is a control issue in the wiring, and really starting to think the car is running in preprogrammed limp mode, although the car runs really well. sorry this is so long, but you see the extent ive went through to fix nothing. it should have been fixed 3 times now. also, it ran exactly the same before and after i replaced the ecu.

 HEY look closer around the fuse box under the dash, i bet that you do have a diag. port and just are'nt looking at it... next to the fuse box there should be a rubber cover (black rubber) it covers up the end of the diagnostic port so that some people easily overlook it!!! just pull the rubber cover off and it will be behind it....it's not very big, only about 1.5 inches long or so....just use a good flashlight if you have to...

thats what i thought, but it is not there. ive been all aorund it and behind it. there is no port. this really sucks.

ok, i did find it. somebody took it loose from the fuse box and hid it under the carpet. of course like i expected, no codes.
an update though, ive got like 4 isc motors to play with. the most recent one i got ohms fine, but doesnt make the car run any better. doing the 6 volt battery test thing does absolutely nothing. itll just twitch once and quit. im gonna assume this means it doesnt work...which brings me to my next question. why does the plug on the harness show 12V at the two center spades, but the manual says when testing, only apply 6V to the isc. if this is true, and i put a brand new isc in, wont my car eat it as soon as i turn the key?
anyway, for a bandaid fix, i took the isc apart, and screwed the cylinder all the way out(in turn blocking air to the motor). then bolted everything back on. this did work so far. it idles a little low when cold, but i monkey with the isc some more to get the pefect idle when cold. might as well do this, cause the thing never moves on its own anyways. so far so good. i guess my isc IS bad, but im kind of leery to putting a new one in the way the harness plug checks. could somebody go pull their isc plug and give me a voltage check across the board with the key on.(on a car that runs fine of course)

what s the big deal about the biss. everybody always blames this. its definately not the prooblem. and it wasnt on the other throttle body i had on there either. ive got it adjusted and sealed with silicone.
im positive its the isc motor now. im just not sure if i should replace it or not due to the 12V at the harness in the center two terminals. i havent had anybody able to tell me whether this is right or not. ive found typos in manuals before, and the manual says it should only have 1 terminal at 12 V and the rest less than 12 V . mine just has two hot and the rest nothing.
