So I know that my tsi is in need of some piston rings because under boost when you let off the gas she puffs smoke. Turbo is a b16g in good condition so I know its not a turbo problem. Last night after a quick uphill 115mph burst I could not boost after I came over the hill. The car has a noticeable sputtering. On my GSx that I got rid of a similar situation occured on the same hill. ONly difference was that I could make all the boost I wanted. It turned out to have a piece of one of my valves missing:) So I dont think the valves/head is the problem here. What do you guys think......boost leaking past rings??:talon: Do you think that rings are something I could replace myself over the weekend in my driveway? I can get a complete running motor w/ low mileage for $650 so I may just go that route.

If it were your rings, your boost gauge would still register how much boost you were running. Have you checked your vaccum lines? I'd retrace all those and make sure they are hooked up properly.

... and you didn't even answer my question about the vaccum lines. How can you expect someone to help if you're not going to reply to their troubleshooting questions?

sounds like a vacume line to me too
my friends 2g fwd did the same thing one time, he went to race this hatch and it would only built 2psi(t25)

turned out that the vacome line on the BOV had worked its way loose since it didnt have a clamp or anything holding it on, when he banged second on the way to where we raced at, the vacume line came off the BOV

your boost guage should be reading before the engine from the intake manifold, so if it were something internal you would still see the correct boost on the guage
