I took my Talon to the Jeep dealer today. My car has been running pretty rough lately.

It idles rough. When i turn it on, it shakes and idles so rough, it seems like the car wants to die. It does it so bad, that that orange light on the bottom left starts to come on. I have to goose the gas for quite a bit to get it to stabilize. Also, when im in gear, sometimes the car will buck, and sputter out of nowhere.

the folks at Jeep ran a diagnostic test on it, no codes came up. They did however, say something about one of the o2 sensors set to run lean. He said he wasnt sure if that was intentionally tuned that way or not.

Otherwise, all spark plugs, wires were brand new. fuel filter is brand new. all general maintainence stuff is brand spankin new.

the service guy said that when you start to highly modify a car, it makes it 10x harder for them to troubleshoot. Air flow settings are different than stock, injectors are different...etc...he said it was mostly out of his hands, and that i should try something else. he reccomended hahn racecraft to me (im about 15 minutes away from them) and automotosport, both highly reputable DSM service places.

When i bought my car from my mechanic, i was told that it was dyno-tuned already, with a wideband o2... im going back this saturday to get it looked at and retuned, in hopes that something was overlooked, and that maybe they can fix my problems.

Any other suggestions? comments? What to do?

Your "service guy" admitted they're incompetent with DSMs. How refreshing- and rare.

If those known experts are so close to you, why did you bother with a Jeep shop?
What to do?
Go with whichever DSM shop you like the looks of best.

Prob. your ISC. The ISC does not throw a code if its bad. Do this, disconnect the harness to the ISC and see what happens. If the car acts the same its your ISC. Take the ISC off and check the coils for the proper resistance across the coils. I'm almost certain that is your problem. Find yourself a used one at a junkyard or off the trader it will be much cheaper than the dealer. This part is the number one cause of idle problems, stalling, and thottle fluctuation. There is an entire section in the Tech Articles on this site that goes over how the ISC works. Check it out!
