well, i think my tranny is shot

I think I blew my torque converter. Does anyone know how I can tell for sure if its blown before I spend money to get my trans fixed? Also, how hard would it be to replace the torque converter myself if thats the problem?

What were the symptoms that you got before it blew?

i got no symptoms before it happened, i was just driving and all of a sudden while accelerating it went into neutral on me even though it was still in drive. There wasnt even any grinding or loud noises at all.
