Need New Engine

96 non turbo...think i have blown my motor...loud knocking coming from the block...was leaking oil from someplace real bad before it happened...no power loss but want to replace it anyways since i had like 117k on her...i live in SOCAL san diego area...new to the area...anyone have any sugestions where i can get one and cheep?...lowest price so far has been 1700 thats not even put in...this sucks...saved up the money to buy turbo now have to buy a new motor...

y don't you go to the junkyard and get a used 1g turbo motor and tranny and ecu and put that in?

Yeah what he said or you could get a jdm cyclone engine from importers all around the web , i blew my motor then i looked at the junkyards they all priced me at 1500-1700 for damn used motor with miles ranging from 75000 - 12000 so i said hell no and got a good deal on a 91-93 rs jdm cyclone motor with the 16g and yellow bodied stock 510cc injectors so just research n see what fits your budget

^^^^None of the 1G ideas are going to work as your 96 has the 420a engine in it. best bet is to find another one at a junkyard, off this site or dsmtrader.com. Depending on the damage to your motor, it could be rebuilt, but the only way to know is jerk the engine and look at the damage when you take it apart....
