I noticed some oil in my upper IC piping. I was wondering if it was a bad PCV valve. Has anyone else noticed this before? What could it be and why does it happen?

Thanks. I had a feeling that was the problem. Do you have to have the PCV run back to the intake? Does it really matter if it just blows out anywhere.Originally posted by steve
A quick search would confirm that this is a common problem. The crankcase is vented back into the intake from the valve cover. A Bad PVC valve can cause quite a bit of oil to get blown into the intake, as can bad turbo seals, but some oil tends to wind up in the intake from normal crankcase pressure.
After checking your PVC valve to make sure it doesn't leak under pressure, you can add a catch can to the line from the valve cover to the intake to stop the oil from reaching the intake. You might want to flush out you intercooler to get the oil out of it too.
