I recently got my engine built and back in my car...I now I'm having a problem already. When I first give the car some gas it puffs a pretty nice cloud of black smoke...after the turbo spools up a bit it cleans up a bit. I also have noticed a small amount of greyish blue smoke when I first start it up. I sure the hell hope this isn't blowby/ring problem because the bottom end/head barely have 2,000 miles on them. Anyone have ideas???

If your O2 sensors are not new, test them with a digital voltmeter to see if they are operating correctly.

It also seems to be burning oil as well. 1/2 to 1 quart on a 90 mile drive.
And no I have no afc as of the moment so no it's not fine tuned. Would the huge ports, big valves, and custom intake be fliipping out the ecu...HENCE the need for an afc?? Or could it be a turbo seal??

If you suspect the turbo as your source of oil leakage, pull off your intake and check the shaft in it for play.

The turbo has no play in it whatsoever...and holds 13-14 pounds of boost just fine. Haven't cranked it up any untill i figure this out.

anyone else got any clues??????

UPDATE:talon: When I start the car up in the morning and it is cold...it blows blueish grey smoke until it warms up a little. Then it does good until it gets nice and good and warm and it will shoot black smoke util the turbo gets good n spooled. COME ON GUYS:thumb:

good question...what should it be at??
