I keep hearing this noise coming from transmission area....like a whirring noise... It only happens when the clutch isnt depressed....when it is I rarely hear it (once or twice) and if I do, pumping the clutch will make it go away.....what in the world is this noise. ??????????? Is the clutch not in there correctly...??? Its a ACt 2600 with stock pressure plate. The clutch still grabs very nicely so I dont think it the disc (only 10k old and I dont beat on it) Any ideas ? I heard something about act throwout bearing being faulty..would this cause it ? HELP

That could be a possibility. If you used the ACT t/o bearing, it has a metal sleeve, not a plastic one like the OEM. It has tendency to crack or warp under excess, in which you should always use the t/o bearing with the plastic sleeve, which is OEM. If the clutch is engaging fine, then it shouldnt be that your flywheel needs to be re-stepped. Was your stock flywheel resurfaced before re-install?

When I had noise identical to what you are describing it ended up being a worn clutch fork. I switched it out and the noise went away. The only difference was I had the noise when the clutch was new, not after a few thousand miles.
