I am using the Greddy Type-S BOV, I just installed an Injen Intake and took the car for a spin. But instead of the whistle it should be makin, I'm gettin a sound exactly like a horse muttering, I'm not talkin about the "neigh," it's like the "pfft" sound =P. I tried slight adjustments to the hard/soft settings with no effect what-so-ever. The BOV is recirculated, should I try venting to atmosphere?

Ahh! no venting to the atmosphere with your MAS. Like a horse muttering? You mean like a repeated sneeze? Might be compressor surge. What turbo and how many pounds of boost

yea, I think the sound ur hearing occurrs when the turbo hasn't yet built boost, it's still in vacuum, and you let off of the throttle. Since there isn't really any boost to vent, the spring actuator let's up and just flutters a little to let out pretty much nothing, that's normal man... if u have a boost gauge, watch where you start building positive boost, the fluttering occurrs just before that. 1

It's not makin the sound in the vacuum. I don't have to go WOT, but fairly hard acceleration into 5-9 psi and I get the sound.

As far as the turbo itself, it's a 16G at 9psi. I discovered a while ago actually that the turbo has shaft play and found a touch of oil when I changed the intake. If it's the turbo, then I guess that's not so bad since I'm already buyin new T3 next month.

So after a bit of research and your last post, it sounds like turning up the boost will get rid of that sound. But the sound isn't a problem and I shouldn't worry about it. I guess I can handle that. Thanks for your quick help gentlemen(and perhaps ladies).

hahah like a horse. my gf says it sounds like a turkey. but yeah. its normal for it to flutter at low boost. my turboXS flutter at anything below 5 PSi usually

my 1g bov at part throttle sounds like a little dog barking, mine sometimes makes no sound, then it barks like a dog, then it goes pffft and sometimes it goes whoosh, its like a 5 in 1 super bov
