Ok first off. the car doesent get HOT on the 2g gauge at idle the needle sits just a tad below 1/2.. right on the second little wavy line on the "boat"

if i drive a bit and then sit the needle climbs to the first tick about the top wavy line.. about 9:30 if it were a clock.. nowhere NEAR what i would consider running "hot" but still, higher than what i would consider normal..

BUT! if at idle and i give it some gas for a few sec.. the temp DROPS.. its almost like at idle the water pump isnt moving enough water through the motor to keep it as cool as when driving..

there is no chance this could damage the motor.. but still it peaks my curiosity...

so is this normal even with a fluidyne?? I have a front mount and alot of my "ducting" that channels air across the radiator is removed.. i redid the top and bottom but the sides are open..

after reading this it makes me wonder..

am i just being paranoid?

So its running hotter than stock? Mine hits the middle line. Even if I run it hard it won't go much(maybe a single tick) passed that.

Possible bad stat? I would try replacing that first.

brand new radiator cap, from mitsu.. the thermostat is junk, but i drilled some holes in it
You can't just simply drill holes in it. That will cause a problem. There's a way to modify it if you want to have it like that. If I were you, I'd go back to the 180/190 degree thermostat.

well i tried a 180 yesteday, a brand new one.. and it didnt open till the needle was more than halfway up.. and it stayed there..

BUT i put the drilled one back in, drove it to RCR in San Antonio, ran 5 times, drove back, drove around in the 90 degree heat today alot and it never got even warm...

guess i had a bubble..
