It Just DIED on my way home

Alright, I have a 1993 Plymouth Laser 1.8 liter model with the manual trans. Maybe this has happened to someone before on here and they can help me. I was on my way home from work today when all of a sudden my car shut off. I had just put it in 5th gear and it just shut off. I finished pulling over to the side of the road with the rest of the momentum i had left. I went to start it up again, and it barely turned over. So I looked under the hood and saw that all belts were still on. I thought maybe it was my fuel pressure, so i checked that, sure enough, it wasnt the problem, so i checked my spark plugs, and i have no spark, i checked all my fuses, none were blown. So i tried to start it up once more and tried to see if i got any movement in the crankshaft, and no, there wasnt any, so then i realized maybe its the timing belt??? I dont know. But im desperate and Broke. It has 100k on itt, gas tank is full, oil is only bout a quart low so thats not the problem. Please any help is Appreciated, id be grateful.

Yeah, but he has a 1.8. I don't think those had that problem.

Sounds like your cam cog has sheared the drive blocks from the timing belt.

Thank you guys for all you inputs and answers. I guess ill just take it to a garage have them fix everything. I just pray none of my valves got bent.

you wont bend valaves quit your bitchin, j/k but seriously you wont bent valves its a 1.8 they dont have the clearence problems, i say you try the timming belt yourself its really simple.

Hopefully you founsd out what the problem was.....from personal experience, with my old 1.8L....it was my timing belt that broke.

Yea guess what, it was the timing belt. The Mechanic said he was also putting a new water pump in, all new hoses, hes flushing out my radiator and putting all new antifreeze in, and hes putting all new belts on too. All for 700 bucks
