I FINALLY got my car back together after a balanceshaft mod (becuase of a bad balance shaft) and a headgasket replacement. There is this constant TICKING coming from the timingbelt side. I made sure the inside of the oil pump and it's gears were in good condition. My temperature seems good when driving and my oil pressure is good and high. I don't notice the clutch going soft on me.

When I rev the engine up, the tick follows RPM, but it does not get louder. Is this an indication of a Spun Bearing?

Lifters maybe? Doesnt sound like a bearing. Its really hard to spin a bearing, but its possible. What kind and weight oil do you us?

Well i try to use mobil 1 full synth 10w30 every chance I get. Are there any 'usual' signs of a spun bearing? I've heard that usually it will 'clack' at a certain RPM, but mine is a constant tick. It doesn't sound like the usual liftertick either...Maybe the cranksprocket is rubbing on the tensioner? Is that possible? I removed the crank sensor and it doesnt look like it's being eaten up. I wish there was a place I could just drive it to, to diagnose what it is... but after taking it to one of the small shops here and having them fubar my timingbelt, its hard to trust any shops.

take off ur oil cap while at idle and listen to see if ticking is comeing from there most likely its ur lifters do you have a mbc with higher boost?
if so most likely ur lifters i have a mbc with high boost and my lifters are kidna loud but when engine warms up it quiets it down a bit but thats my guess

Trust me, if you spun a bearing you would know it. You usually get alot of crank vibration along with at medium RPM a loud clunking, sometimes grinding, and sometimes wineing sound. A tick really doesnt describe a bearing. Like xxdprussxx said, take off your oil cap and give it a listen. If they didnt know what they where doing when they installed your timing belt, then it could be something in there. Installing a timing belt though is a pretty straight forward install. I would recommend if you feel like you can do this, removing the timming cover and taking a look. If you really think the noise is comming from there then this is the only way to find out. I always try to git rid of the harmonic balancer because its 50 times more dependable without it, exspecially since with out it it only has 1 T belt. If something not right you should be able to tell. I also dont see how the crank sprocket could hit the tensoner. If it did, it would probily make more than just a tick. More like a grinding sound and then you would have no more timing. Post back if you find anything strange. It sounds alot like lifters though. Try using Mobile 1 20W 50. That might quiet the tick some if its the lifters. Unless the weather is under 50 degrees, I always like to use 20W 50.
