Hey,

Well I have a 1991 mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD. It would not start, so i though it could be the fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump, and tested it out side the car. It worked fine. So i put it back in and talked to the parts deparment at my local mitsubishi dealer. They said it could be the ecu control relay and if that is not it it could be the ecu itself. So i put the new relay in and yaay we have fuel. But it still will not start. So I checked for spark and we are not getting any spark. Also on the dash there is no check engine light illuminating when i turn the key. So, have I a bad ECU?

-Could be the ignition coil where all the spark plug wires go to. could be the power transistor mounted below the coils, or the ECU.

Check your cam angle sensor. What you do is take it off and turn the ignition on and turn it you will hear the injectors firing.. See if that is good. I would start with that before ecu..

I just got into dsm cars so i dont know if its in the same spot as the eclipse. But the eclipse's was located on the right side of the console.

I just thought i would give you guys an update... I replaced the ecu, and it started. I was soo happy until the check engine light came on, i checked for codes, and it seems the throttle position sensor is bad.

-Does you "new" ECU has new capacitors in it?
TPS test .

basicly i bought a remanufactured ecu from NAPA for $250.
I did the tps test and it failed so i have to order one from autozone 121.95 (cheapest price i have found).

-There're some dealers sponsor this board and they give discount (look-up). or you can check the classified for people parting out their cars.

You're going through the same crap I am now. The shop I sent my car to just replaced the fuel pump relay, ECU, and now they're replacing the TPS. So, I'm in the same boat as you are.
