I live in CA and I passed the higher rpm test but I couldn't pass the lower one. The tech said that it could be my plugs and wires and alod my fuel filter. Has anyone ran into this problem?

He said my mods were fine and that the silencer my N-1 did help.....Suggestions?

Thanks!

so after going around the corner to get a can of chew I heard an annoying sound from my exhaust.....lone be hold the SOB is cracked....$500 N-1 frickin cracked on me......putting the stocker back on and going to get re-tested....should I still change the plugs and wires

If you have the extra $$ I'd change plugs and wires, but since it was cracked, that should be your problem. My '86 Benz failed twice(sold it a while ago though), so I changed plugs, and the air filter, and it passed. Good Luck BTW!

I used Bosch Platnium's (pregapped), with stock wires. Also, there is this stuff you can put in your gas tank to help with emissions, but I forget the name. I think that helped also. BTW, my benz also failed the high rpm test (I think it was 2500RPMS).

im going to change everything when I get home on Thursday night...I live in San Francisco half the week and than head north 3 hours where I could afford to buy a house.......SMOG test is on Friday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed

depending on how your N-1 is cracked..may just throw some JB weld on it.

Mike,

That's exactly what I spent last Saturday doing and I think we got a good seal on there. We triple coated it so I'm pretty sure the weld is secure and air tight..... i'm going in tomorrow for round 2 with the SMOG....wish me luck

I have a good coating of the stuff on mine, it was salvaged, fixed, and installed by Doug99rs....I've been running it for several months..no problems to report:thumb:

I had to go to a smog only station today and the guy wanted to charge me extra $50 for looking up the CARB code for my ICEMAN intake even though I had the CARB sticker right there. Anyways, I just left because he won't smog my car for my CE light was on and told me I have to put stock intake back on. It's not the first time I smog with that intake on, is he bulshiting me about the intake ?
