OK i found my problem car was only running on 2 cyl. no spark so i gat a new innition ciol and it seemed to fix the problem i was running on all 4 again. the car remained parked. today i was and replaced my caps on the ecu put it all back and fired it up. running pretty good. and on all 4 again,

now i pulled it out of my garage about 100ft out my garage my car starts acting up again. i pull the plug and again running on 2 cyl the same 2 as before.

now this is my question

when i put my foot on the brake at idle the car will fire up all 4 as if nothing is wrong. or if its running i can push the brake and look 4cly and take my foot off and bam back to 2 cyl?????????wtf

i do have a rpm wire tapped on my cas, and all the wires on the cas and worn bad. but im guessing that the problem has soming to do with the brake system or maybe a vaccum line.


im stummped so any ideas wiil help thanks tyler
 
and maybe this has been my problem all along. because when the car was running on 2 cly before it was parked. and i didnt ever touch the brake pedal.......hummmmmmmmm

the car is a 91 tsi fwd
recent mods are the mas translater (tapped rpm wire)
and the green light does stay dim at idle(wich means its light under throttle) wich brings me back to the rpm wire on the cas..



but then what would this have to do with the brake pedal??????
 
ok i went hunting for vac leaks. i cant find any but i do hear a hissing coming from the intake manifold. maybe under or around the throttle body.

and i fired up the car heald my foot on the brake on the car runs fine on all 4 cyl. as soon as i take my foot off the pedal , bam, hello 2 banger... wtf

any ideas????? or anyone in oregon want to take a look???
 
im just looking for ideas, i dont expect anone to be able to pinpoint my problem, just some ggod places to start.....:thumb:
 
GREAT TREAD I HAD GOIN HERE BUT I FIXED IT


it was a wire from my alarm for my remote start. it was a tapped wire and it came off a huge pack of wire under the dash. i belive it goes to my e brake. (if somone drops the e brake when the car is running with no keys in the ignition,it dies). this wire leads to a t into my ingnition coil plug. it was being pulled on and streached causing a bad connection.when the brake wasnt pressed too the floor. and my coil to fire on only 2 cyl.

dont laugh but the wire that was giving me all this problem was really being pulled right up on the metal bar by the brake pedel. the wire was hanging down.simple fix, right?????

anyways i have a ignition coil pack for sale 60$ shipped LOL,
and new caps on my ecu(wich i def recomend)cheap go to a tv repair shop:thumb:

and Ramchargers maf translater:thumb: and now im ready to tune it
didnt dought it the whole time.

but my green light is still dim light at idle????????any help

I'm glad that you found the problem. Those were some weird-ass symptoms that you originally posted!! I was trying to figure - what the hell does pressing on the brakes have to do with sparks, anyway???!!

...Again... I'm happy the problem is solved!!!!:thumb:
 
me too. well i never drove it anywhere. it acted up in my garage and the car stayed there, so i never touched the brake.
