How do you check fuel pump voltage?

I've read through all the fuel pump rewire threads and VFAQs and would like to check my fuel pump voltage with my multimeter, but I don't know where exactly to attach the probes. Anybody know how/where to do that?

Look at the connector; you should easily see where you can stuff the meter probes into it.

If you jam them in a bit, they shouldn't fall out. Then you just need meter leads long enough so that you can have a passenger watch the voltage as you drive.

OK, I'm a moron. I went and looked at it, but still couldn't figure out where to stick any multimeter probes. Plus, mine seems to have an extra harness stuck on top of it that I've never seen in any of the VFAQs (the red and black one at the bottom of this picture). If somebody could help me out, I'd be eternally grateful...

Try the connector below that larger connector. Should be the one on the tank itself. Below is a picture of the fuel pump motor connector. It's only got two pins. Pin #1 on the left side of the connector is the ground, it's a solid black wire. Pin #2 is the fuel pump relay output, it's Black with a dark blue tracer. The pins are numbered like that while having the bare pin-outs facing you, and the locking tab facing upward. You can back probe these two wires using like a paper clip or something small. Just make sure they don't touch and that the relay output wire doesn't short to ground either.
