knock problem 4g63

My gsx knocks between 1800 and 4000 rpm. I checked the timing belt marks and they are perfect. It sounds like its coming from near the timing belt near the intake manifold. Any help would be great.

Just to clarify... You are hearing a knocking sound? Not reading knock count?

Yes I hear a knock sound. I don't have a scanner to read a knock count.

That's a tough call without more information. Can you get someone to stand outside of the car and pinpoint it while you rev? Or just open the throttle yourself under the hood and listen if you can. I personally don't like having my face in the engine when I do that, but maybe you're more of a man than me. haha

Also, what's the condition of your timing belt? A timing belt can start to tear and have a piece of it that just sorta dangles and bangs into things. I know you said you have the cover off, but look down in there and make sure it's not doing this. God forbid it is. Although I would consider that lucky for not just breaking.

And are you sure it's not just typical lifter tick?

Without more information or video, it's kinda hard for me to think of anything else. Good luck with it.

I just bought the car and the timing belt is almost knew. I don't have a video camere to record a video. I don't think it's a lifter sound. Also, I do't think it's a rod or a spun bearing because it would make noise at all rmp's correct?

I just got done testing again. When you pull the plug wire out of cylinder number 1 the knock goes away. Does this sound like a rod bearing or a bad wrist pin.
