my relative has a 92 talon awd tsi which my grandfather was putting the fuel cover back on the fuel pump assembly. well he ended up breaking the solid black wire, which i researched and its the ground. i see from pics its connected to that little nut. the problem is the car ran fine before he broke that. i put a new connector and connected it. the car starts up but dies as soon as i let the key turn back to the "on" pos. if i keep cranking the car it will run and idle at 1000 rpms like its running normal only with the started sound. i took the fuel line off and when i start it,it gushes gas out and when i let the key go back to "acc" or "on" the gas stops. i was wondering if anyone knows if another pump wire can break and make it do this. the fuel pump has power and is getting gas to the engine but wont stay running. i asked him if he touched anything else and he said no. so can anyone help or had this problem. thanls

so i took the ecu out and look inside no capacitors or anything leaking or smelling. checked the plugs to see if there fouled, they looked fine plus i cleaned them anyways. i took the fuel assembly out to see if that ground wire was off or anything messed up, that all checked out. still the same starting for a 1/2-1 second then shuts off. when it stalls you can hear the relay hummmmmm then click click. i really am stumped, should i start with relays? the ecu fuse is good on the pos battery side. can anyone help me or have any suggestions?:(:(

maybe the fuel pump relay. It could have shorted. dont know how ### no hot wire touched the ground, but still good place to start. It is in the pass floor area, behind the radio and glove comp.

yeah thanks i was gonna start there. i checked it out when i took the ecu out. the car worked fine before the damn wire broke on the fuel assembly and when i disconnect the ground on the fuel assembly, the car still just starts for a second then dies:confused::mad:
