I just changed my timing belt on my 95 eagle talon and i bought a new crank plate and CPS. Now the car will start once but then the plate just destroys the CPS and won't get any spark after that. We've gone through 2 sensors now and can't figure out why the plate is messing up the sensor and i've checked the forums and the cps is def on right and i'm pretty sure the plate is too...Any suggestions will be helpful thanks!

Really hate to break it to you but your motor is crankwalking. Do a search on the subject for an in depth explanation but basically your crank is moving laterally in the motor beyond factory spec which is why the plate is breaking the sensors. I saw you have a 95 and 95 96 are the most notorious for the problem for some reason. Your motor is toast use this as an opportunity to invest in a nice 6bolt swap.

sorry man. could be a good experience tho swappin to a 6bolt if you've never done an engine swap before

Was your CPS broken before you changed the timing belt? You probably reinstalled the crank plate on wrong. The CPS breaking is a sympton of crankwalk but if it is walking, it would have destroyed the CPS a while back. Check the clearances on the crank for movement.

Yea i was thinking it might have but i checked the crank and it doesn't have much play and I got a sensor from Mitsubishi instead of autozone and it seemed to work it was just rubbed a little at first but then we took the car out and blew something-the car idled great but when i took it down the street it died and smoke was coming out of the head when we opened the oil cap so yea I'm getting the head taken off tomorrow to see the damage but i'm pretty sure i'll have to end up getting a 6 bolt!

Yea I have a friend that changes his motor out all the time so he can do it and btw I'm a girl not a man LOL

not good-the head is blown on the car now too cause when i finally got it to drive a little I went down the road and the head blew so yea now i'm looking to do a complete 6 bolt swap so if anyone knows of where a could get a good 6 bolt let me know!

The head may still be salvagable. If you can just get a hold of a 6 bolt block, with slight modification, you can make the head work. It'll save you a bit of money.

Yea I've looked into it i'm probably gonna just the whole thing cause i can't seem to find any 6 bolt blocks that aren't up there in price so i'm better off just buying the whole thing but thankss
