 Big problem. My idle is bad, I can feel it (vibrations) while im sitting there at a stop sign, stop light etc, it shakes so bad, more than what it should be. I can't even describe it. Now with my big problem: I can start the car perfectly fine, If i rev it all the way past boost, the car sounds like a dirt bike. The sound starts to happen at 1.5k RPM's, its like a loud ticking sound, makes my car sound like it has a v8 then gradually processes to sounding like a high pitch squeal. The ticks are heard between 1.5 - 4k then you can barely hear after. I went out and took a video just now with my digital camera, poor sound quality but its the best I got. The first few seconds is just it idling then I start revving the car and u can sorta hear it (tick). I can take a better one tomorrow morning. Someone please help me, did I throw a bearing?

sound like you timing might of jumped and the valves are tapping the piston. This also happend in my 93 tsi before. Its was shaking badly and it was knocking bad. Good thing I didnt bent any valves. Try checking you timing first before you start it up again.

also may be a vacuum line off somewhere. thats what my 96 sounded like. it was the valve cover line that goes to intake

Checked for vacuum leaks, none. Timing is good. Checked the Harmonic Balancer, that is good. Checked by pulling the spark plug wires, all good there. I did find out though that I have an exhaust leak right at the flex pipe. Would that cause my engine to make that sound?

Depending on the size of the hole id say that its definitely possible for that sound to be an exhaust leak. Either way the leak needs to be fixed so go ahead and do that, then see what happens.

Have you checked to the compression yet just to try and eliminate anything mechanical. Sounds like you need to do a boost leak test also. That could be why your idle is so bad.

When I bought the car in November I did the following: Changed the fuel filter, changed the oil to mobil 1 synthetic, mobil 1 oil filter, new NGK 6's spark plugs and did compression which is 151, 151, 151, 151. I have leaked coolant ever since then but have found the problem, which is that my lower radiator hose needs to be replaced.

After I get back from chicago this weekend i am putting on: Greddy UICP/LICP, Greddy Intake, K&N FIPK, NGK wires, New lower radiator hose, new thermostat, I am cleaning the housing, My lotek gauge pod with autometer pro comp ultra lite boost and a/f. (will be getting a oil press, and EGT soon), CI Motorsports MBC, Draining my radiator and putting on my mishimoto 16ib radiator cap. Also my friend over the weekend who works for toyota will be sealing my exhaust leak to see if it is the problem for temp being. I don't have money for exhaust right now. I will repost if I still have a problem.

*UPDATE* Got back from Chicago, installed all the parts, car boosts hard so I defiantly know its not a boost leak unless its coming from my BOV. But, my problems have gotten worse. The engine tic has become increasingly louder, and I still have that loud gargle sound when I climb in the RPM's. Also this morning when I started the car, I heard this loud clanking sound come directly beneath the car, like directly beneath my a/t shifter. Stuck it in reverse, and it was shaking horribly. Happened twice and now it won't do it anymore. Confused? I know I need a driver side axle assembly because my boot ripped, but that should't cause that? So anyway, my friend is taking my car to Ranken to have his teacher try to figure out the problem as I am stumped. If anyone else knows any possibilities, let me know.
